CNCROi.com can make custom CNC laser Delrin seals of any size, shape and depth.
We’ve made a lot of Delrin seals since inception almost a year ago, there are three main reasons why we get many custom seal projects:
- We can offer 24 hour turn-around on most seals once we receive the file.
- We can cut them to any shape and size.
- We are able to make essentially unlimited quantities, all identical, or if you prefer, each one unique using a database.
There was an off-cut from a larger project we just completed for a corporate client so I decided to make an updated sample for our case to demonstrate to client.
Generally seals are made round to fit inside of a press but there are MANY other applications where Delrin can be used. If you work in clay, these are a great way to add detail before firing them up in a kiln like a corporate logo or words that, otherwise, would be almost impossible to do in any other way.
Delrin, as opposed to using a regular rubber stamp, is far more durable and stronger thus, you are able to use them to emboss fabric and paper stock. The limit with Delrin regarding applications is only the creativity behind it.
In this case, CNCROi.com made both a male and a female version, for some applications, only a male is needed and sometimes, only female. This is entirely optional, you tell us what you want and we make it for you in our shop.
These seals fit perfectly, and by perfectly, I mean within a fraction of a mm, regardless of the amount of detail you wish to have. They “seal” so well that they lock in place quite easily and for a solid with no wiggle room at all. Interlocking perfectly.
Depending on where you are geographically, you may know Delrin as celcon, ramtal, hostaform, kepital, duracon. The chemical name for this DuPont manufactured plastic is Polyoxymethylene (POM), which also goes by a few other names like acetal, polyacetal and polyformaldehyde.
Delrin is a thermoplastic by the way, which means the results we get using a highly focused heat source are fantastic. Delrin has a very high stiffness coefficient and yet, a low friction surface which is why it’s used for seals around the world.
It’s hard to photograph engraved Delrin so hopefully these close-up shots help you see the depth and quality of our CNC laser engraving and cutting of it.
