Today we’ll focus on only one of the MANY options that go into custom award production, in this case, it’s a slab of maple which was cut to size using our industrial bandsaw, sanded and nailed together (nails are under the award so you don’t see them).
If you wanted something a bit more extensive shape wise, then we can do that too, like this F16 award prototype that was laser engraved on both sides to show you even more possibilities!
Notice the edges of the F16 award prototype are brown, that’s because it was laser cut, this is technically possible to do with our bandsaw but having a wide variety of equipment here at CNCROi.com allows us to use the optimal process for the material and design dependent.

As a first pass, I wanted to show you how custom award production can be made very subtle to match your mood and requirements, in this case, it’s a piece of REAL maple that’s engraved a fraction of a mm deep, just enough to be present but not so much as it’s in your face.
Because CNCROi.com MAKES custom awards for a wide variety of purposes, we are able to make things within a huge range of budgets in given volumes and timelines.
This is probably one of the cheaper options we can offer you, with the more expensive being using real maple, and keep in mind that the above award could have just as easily been made using the same maple wood we are reviewing in this demonstration!

The subtlety of this maple engraving on this custom corporate award looks really nice, the details are sharp, repeatable and totally repeatable.
Repeatability is important, because if you had the same design at different scales or with unique elements on each award in the same or different places, CNCROi.com can do that!
That was fun, so now we are going to engrave the same area, but only the bottom half, going deeper and darker for this custom award production.
Think of it like this, you want your logo to stand out but the name or other details to be more subtle, CNCROi.com can do that realtime and on-demand!
The goal of additional laser passes is to darken the wood, not engrave deeper into it, but to make an even bigger impression, I did an additional pass where the laser was engraving deeper into the custom maple award and then we’ll go over it again (a third time) to darken the wood.
Of course, this is only wood, we can integrate other features such as acrylic and other media into the custom award as well.

Now that we’ve engraved the custom maple award deeper, to add extra contrast and shadows to the light engraving above it, it’s time to go nuts and really make it dark!
Custom award production has as many or as few options as you want, it always comes down to budget, volume and materials as to what’s possible for your specific needs.
Our Austrian wide-format industrial laser can engrave straight through this piece of 3/4″ or 18 mm maple, and for some customers, some elements they want this to be done, but for this demonstration, we just want to show you contrasting options on the surface.
Custom award production is fun as each client is unique with their own requirements at the table.
I didn’t mask this custom award engraving on purpose, I wanted to show you the smoke difference between light and deep laser engraving performed by our Austrian wide-format industrial laser.
The above would be fine as/is but the bottom, unless you are going for an “iron branded” esthetic, needs some sanding.
