Custom Hot / Cold Stamping Services

I’m happy to announce CNCROi.com has made a dramatic leap in “custom capabilities & services” yet again… this time with an industrial quality Hot / Cold Stamping. That in itself isn’t anything to rave about, but the fact that we can use our Austrian CNC laser in-house to make the molds for this machine IS MASSIVE!

Hot stamping, cold embossing machine… and SO MUCH MORE!

Trodat Background

A little background about Trotec Laser, the manufacturer of our large format CNC laser. It was started as an in-house project by Trodat – the world’s largest rubber stamp manufacturer – because they kept having problems with lasers not engraving stamps for them properly and breaking down. Stamp production is messy and tends to gunk things up… so they decided enough was enough and decided to build their own lasers, Trotec Lasers.

CNCROi.com Custom Stamping

Due to the fact that Trodat created Trotec Lasers of which we are a proud owner of, our software is highly optimized for rubber stamp making and embossing… it’s built right in! This means that we can create all our own high-precision and high-quality molds for our clients requiring hot and cold stamping… not only that, we can offer this service to others needing them even if they need them to be a few meters long by a meter wide! Yep, having a WIDE FORMAT CNC laser has massive advantages! GONE are the days of having to wait a week for turnaround on these services, we can get it done and shipped same day!

Black, color change and… foil!

One issue we’ve been having with entering a few new business verticals is that although our laser is awesome, the results are either engraving, etching, cutting or marking. We can’t ADD color other than using paint fill but with our hot stamping capabilities, we can now emboss leather to paper with just about any color foil you want, from gold or pink to silver to holographic.

Delrin VS Rubber

Delrin is a hard and strong material that is used for embossing while rubber is a softer material by comparison but each has its own purpose and application. You’ll be seeing a lot more of these two materials here on CNCROi.com in the very near future. You can get more detail out of delrin but you can use inks with rubber though both can be used for debossing or embossing. Delrin doesn’t take-up ink while rubber wears out faster.

What sold me…

Before attending a tradeshow a few days earlier, I never envisioned getting a stamping machine, I was thinking of an industrial stamper to push out metal plates but once I got to review the machine we are about to get, and the capabilities (listed below), it made perfect sense to have them both in our shop as it’s are highly complimentary to my CNC laser.

  • It’s capable of up to 2 tons of pressure onto the material below it.
  • Solid state digital heat control and thermal couple.
  • Strong metal construction and made in the USA.
  • 14 inches (35 cm) square work area so even big projects can be handled quite easily… and our model will have extensions to allow even larger pieces in it!
  • Can deboss, gold stamp, foil stamp and color filled deboss
  • Up to 10 inches (25 cm) of vertical space under the stamp for even the largest of items.
  • Works across a variety of materials from leather and acrylic to paper and wood.

Stamping Applications

Essentially, short of metal and glass specific applications, our hot and cold stamping machine can complement our in-house capabilities. For instance, we can CNC laser cut a chunk of wood and engrave onto it afterwards and then add additional embellishments such as gold and copper leaf permanently to its surface.

From weddings needing custom laser cut invitations that are then stamped to wineries looking for branded napkins or corks to companies looking for custom and incredibly difficult to replicate identification cards… CNCROi.com is here to help and then some!
