Custom acrylic jewelry is a fascinating business to be in, the markups some of our clients experience is mind-blowing and we are always happy with the custom mass-production runs given to us!
Like many of my clients, their area always new ideas to test out and play with, there are well over 300 blog posts on CNCROi.com so far, each a different take on essentially personal mass production possibilities and that well is nowhere near becoming dry. I don’t know how many articles I’ve published here that had acrylic as their primary base material and thus far, haven’t even touched upon the possibilities regarding custom acrylic jewelry, that starts today.
Custom acrylic jewelry in this case starts with a 1/8th (3 mm) piece of scrap acrylic – why scrap? Because all the good stuff goes to client projects! What’s left over is kept for other applications and in this case, it’s to show jewelry options but I can tell you that this scrap has distinctive custom coaster tabs on it, so that’s what it was used for beforehand.
We are able to make custom jewelry out of anything, anodized aluminium through stainless steel, wood veneers through laminates, delrin through rubber. It’s incredible the diversity possible when you have CNCROi.com hired-on to make all your custom jewelry!
This is a rather simple piece of custom acrylic jewelry that entails engraving and then cutting out a person’s name. There is also a hole in the top for a chain. What’s nice is that CNCROi.com can make endless name combinations so if the jewelry designer had 100 same or different names, it would make no difference in both volume pricing or in material optimization. With us, you are never “stuck” mass-producing identical widgets!
Our Austrian industrial CNC laser is precise down to 5 nanometers, this means that even complex geometries and design parameters come out amazing the first and last time no matter how many iterations there were in-between. You can see in these pictures how the laser is vaporizing about 1/16th (roughly 1.5 mm) off the surface of this custom acrylic jewelry.
The results are also consistent across languages and design styles, with us, you never have issues of things not being straight and consistently at depth for materials like acrylic because we have a top of the line industrial CNC laser. We invested heavily for these results to play themselves out to our client’s satisfaction.
In this case, we made custom acrylic jewelry in both Chinese and English (not a translation) so you can see how well the results are regardless of the market, end-customer or country you are using CNCROi.com‘s expert services to dive into.
After the engraving is done, a hole was cut out of each piece of custom acrylic jewelry and then the outline was cut out of the acrylic. The process is so fast and accurate that massive production runs are no problem for us.
Like the English letters, the Chinese are treated the same, at the end of the day, the laser doesn’t know the language it’s working on, only the flow of paths so regardless of how simple or complex your imagery or design is, we can handle it!
The dust you see slowly accumulating over the acrylic is the material that’s been vaporized by both the engraving and cutting processes from our CNC laser. It quickly comes off with a damp cloth and is by no means permanent.
It’s pretty incredible if you consider that we made both of these custom acrylic jewelry pieces using nothing but high energy light which is essentially a controlled fire in an enclosed area. It never ceases to amaze me how incredible this Austrian technology really is regardless of what we do with it to the profit of our customers!
Now that both pieces of custom acrylic jewelry are cut out, you can see how precise they were cut out, the curves are not jagged, the lines are smooth and the engraving depth is consistent across the board.
After a quick cleaning, let’s take a look at each piece of custom acrylic jewelry closer-up. “Yucca” looks very good, you can see the border around the engraving is the same across the piece and the contrast is actually pretty good considering this is gray acrylic, we generally make jewelry out of more transparent colored acrylic, not solid.
The Chinese jewelry also comes out well, you can now see why having the engraving adds a lot of depth to the custom acrylic jewelry as the reflection is different where the engraving is vs non-engraving.
