Anodized aluminium through stainless steel, if you need custom machine identification plates, CNCROi.com can help!
We’ve made a lot of custom machine identification plates or as some call them, machine tags, for a variety of industries and application. Mining and military through aerospace and boilers. Why do we get these contracts? Easy, because we can make them and most importantly, the engraving/marking/annealing DOES NOT COME OFF!
CNCROi.com specializes in PERMANENT engraving, annealing and marking using a variety of laser sources. Our Austrian CNC laser has both fiber and CO2 laser sources, as a result, we are able to achieve incredible resolution for even the most corrosive and challenging environments.
In this case, we’ll use our industrial laser to show you what we can do. Obviously, due to NDA, we cannot do a REAL machine identification plate so we’ll go back to our tried and true, test plate to demonstrate the wide variety of possibilities.
This is a 0.05″ blue anodized aluminium machine identification plate with four holes measuring 1/8th. We have a wide variety of stock at different sizes for various applications. Some of our customers even use us to make visitor badges out of thinner or thicker stock (their choice) as just about anything else wears out.
What our industrial Austrian CNC laser is doing is vaporizing off the anodization on the very top surface of this custom machine identification plate. That’s what is producing the contrasting off-white color. As you can see, there is nothing ADDED to the plate, as a result, there is nothing to take off neither!
These custom machine identification plates are incredibly tough, this can sit all day in the Sun or go under water or deep in mines just like sub-zero temperatures and nothing will happen to what we’ve done to these. Actually, many clients use us to make these kinds of custom machine identification plates BECAUSE anything else just doesn’t last in their production environment.
The laser is incredibly precise, we can achieve up to (if needed) a thousand DPI so even micro-text, UPC codes or scanning bar codes are no problem at all. These plates are also incredibly easy to clean, there is no concern about accidentally scratching-off the anodization nor the engraving as they are all one plate.
The advantage of custom machine identification plate made out of anodized aluminium is that we can produce them in a variety of colors from red and green to blue and black. They last just as long as their stainless steel cousins which we also produce and anneal black right in our custom CNC shop!
The clarity we achieve is amazing, the results are generational and thanks to custom mass on-demand production which CNCROi.com is renowned for, we can make each plate UNIQUE so you aren’t stuck having to make 100 units that are identical. They can each be different, logo, text placement and even alphanumerics!
As part of our “showing off” process, we generally give our customers a plate and ask them, directly, to destroy it. We have yet to hear of a customer that was able to do so, and that includes hammers, chisels and even blow torches! Short of using a belt sander, the surface engraving remains even after material warping from hammers and cutting it using various innovative techniques which engineers love to come-up with.
Our custom machine identification plates are meant to last and they do!
We’ve produced custom machine identification plates of many different sizes, from roughly one inch x half-inch all the way through 30 inches x 20 inches (was a REALLY BIG MACHINE!) We also offer alternatives for one-offs from wood veneer through to laminates and acrylics.
The production of custom machine identification plates is very much a volume game, the more you can order from us, the lesser your unit price will be through the engraving will be the same. Overall, this saves you money over the machine’s life cycle and clear machine identification will remain visible for the life of the machine and then some.
The precision of our laser is unparalleled, you can see in the pictures, the square going through all perfectly defined circles is right center without any deviation. This means that even for electrical panels, all the very fine lines will be clearly visible and straight as per your drawing.
Looking at it closer, you can also see the “less than 1 mm” space put on purpose between the tree and the “.com” is there too, consistent all the way around. The lines are solid, the clarity in the borders and holes are all to spec.
Compared to any other technology out there, CNCROi.com‘s custom machine identification plates are second to none, they do cost more than traditional UV printing or stickers but they will not fade, crack or fall off. We do our metal work across a number of applications, industrial to retail!
Many of our customers weld our stainless steel ID plates onto their machine or rivet these anodized aluminium ones right to their machines. Here’s an idea of what this would look like annealing stainless steel.
We also make a lot of custom business cards using anodized aluminium!
If you are curious as to other options using aluminium and more importantly, why we DON’T USE THEM, please watch this video.
Of course, we also work with other metals such as brass and mystery client-supplied stuff that we aren’t told what it is!
Regardless of your metal requirements, CNCROi.com is here to help you make something PERMANENT that will blow your mind in clarity, quality and durability.
