Although I don’t get the opportunity to make double-sided Corian signs, this time for a house number, often, the results look great and I’ll share the final image after the customer has finished the cutting and paint fill at a later date.
During the video above, I showed you a sample of a CNC laser cut Corian sign with colored palm trees and CNCROi.com domain, here’s how that was made in our shop.
Corian is a wonderful material for the right applications, its incredibly durable so it works great for both interior and exterior uses and we can CNC laser engrave it within our shop at a very high-resolution, meaning paint filling not only works amazing without any seepage like you’d get on wood or other materials but it’s easily refreshed as well.
Corian is also far less heavy than alternatives like granite or stone, and the results look way better too for applications like pet and human tomb stones or even corporate coasters.
Here’s another example of Corian paint fill but in this case, it doubles as a coaster and a Christmas ornament!
Notice how sharp the edges are, it’s really quite incredible what CNCROi.com can do design wise for a Corian sign as the possibilities are endless.
Our high precision Austrian CNC laser also does relatively quick work of the surface, only engraving where you want it to occur and even small details come out wonderfully sharp and the texture created feels great on your fingers too.
Being a custom CNC shop means that we can also carve a Corian sign, so whether you want it paint filled, carved or a mix and match with paint filing, CNCROi.com can perform those duties on one or multiple units.
In this case, the customer wanted a custom Corian sign that they can cut to size and paint fill themselves, on both sides!
This requires a lot of precision as if one side is “off” compared to the other side, then you’ll notice right away, you want the mirror image to be perfect without any deviation in orientation, scale or direction.
Below is the finished “one side” of this custom Corian sign, the engraving is permanent and sanding this down after paint filling does take some work, which means that even outdoors, as-is, this will easily last season after season in the elements.
Looking at it close-up, you’ll notice the texture is also wonderful after laser engraving the Corian sign, it’s consistent with sand paper, which means maximum adhesion of paint across 3-axis rather than just a smooth straight flat bottom, which is what you’d get using our CNC router.
I did design in reference marks that I was then able to drill through, that’s how you get perfect signage, letting the laser (then drill hole) tell you exactly where the Corian sign is on the other side without having to see it using reference points, in this case, I just have one at each corner to make things easy.
After drilling, all CNCROi.com has to do is position the design again on the Corian sign using the drilled-out reference holes and we know that everything is perfectly aligned.
After alignment of the Corian sign design on the opposite side, it’s time to laser engrave the design once more of the address and the light house above it.
The “back side” of the Corian might look a little rough but it will look identical to the front texture wise after sanding it, what’s really nice about Corian is that like wood, it’s the same material throughout, unlike laminate that has an unrelated material in between layers.
The Corian sign engraving is just about done using our industrial CNC laser, the marking produced by the Corian factory will sand right off, so it isn’t even a concern during production of this Corian sign.
After the engraving is done, it’s time to flip the Corian sign once more to clean it up then ship to the customer.
Here’s another process by CNCROi.com showing you what can be done by mixing our CNCs together to produce an amazing final result, this time, once sided Corian house number signs but with a bevel along the edge.
Of course, CNCROi.com has also made lot of other stuff with Corian such as custom cutting boards…
… and custom Corian corporate coasters.
As for design, it can literally be anything and what’s really nice about Corian are the tons of different options available color wise.
So if you wanted a laser engraved world map out of solid Corian for a monument for instance, CNCROi.com can make it and if you didn’t want any paint filling right now but maybe considering it later, this process can be performed easily by just about anybody at a later date without issue.
Here’s what a custom Corian world map sign would look like, the same precision as house number signs, cutting boards or corporate coasters.
There is Corian dust produced by the engraving process but once it’s cleaned-up, it looks amazing like everything else CNCROi.com produces here in our shop for our customers far and wide!
