Transitioning away from YouTube.com

It’s been a long time coming but YouTube.com will no longer be the primary video distribution system for CNCROi.com in the future.

What’s wrong with YouTube.com?

An ongoing issue I’ve been having with YouTube.com is random companies electronically looking at my videos and claiming copyright on them – I make everything myself, from the projects to the music to the video editing so I shouldn’t have ANY copyright issues at all! What this means is they start to post advertising on my videos, mute dialog or music and take all the money and I honestly have no recourse. This has been going on for YEARS but more recently, this has been getting worse and worse. Maybe because I have more and more traffic and videos?

I have over 800 videos on YouTube.com and I’m tired of having to deal with copyrights by others on MY STUFF. Sure, I can choose to “fight it” but the bots can create more copyright issues than I have time to deal with and as this gets worse, sucks-up more of my time. These are all FALSE FLAGS but regardless, it’s limiting as I’m “scared” to do anything more on these videos as some bot will claim copyright on my stuff and then I have more issues.

The other problem is I don’t “own” my channel on YouTube.com, as such, all these flags put me one step closer to getting ALL MY VIDEOS deleted and my account erased. For CNCROi.com I have almost 200 videos, thousands of hours of work at stake and CNCKing.com, more than 600 videos.

Solution

It has taken some time but I’m moving all my CNCROi.com videos over to Vimeo PRO. What this means is that I’m paying for hosting but at least have the creative freedom away from YouTube.com’s false copyright claim bots. Wondering why I always use the same music on CNCROi.com? Copyright bots randomly pop-up. Now, I can do whatever I want and still upload to YouTube.com of course, but don’t care what happens as CNCROi.com is running off a “private channel”.

This move also allows me to do things to these videos that isn’t possible on YouTube.com as well, it just takes time to update the equivalent of 300 pages of videos to Vimeo but the results look far more professional in my opinion.

Future is bright!

I really enjoy sharing these videos with visitors to my company, it helps remove the secrecy of what’s possible and helps me on many fronts.

There is honestly no end to what can be done with these videos and now that I “own” my channel, free from the issues I’ve been having with YouTube.com. I don’t know why YouTube.com doesn’t have a professional option like this, especially for people who create all their own content but I guess with the crazy volume of videos sent there, the absolute lack of tech support is a given to resolve what are now automated copyright bots running amok.

I’ll be updating the viewing style of all these Vimeo videos over the coming week, but everything on this front at least is getting resolved.
