Wow… you’re quite enthusiastic!

I attended a networking event recently and one of the people I had a conversation with told me “Wow… you’re quite enthusiastic!” regarding my passion for what CNCROi.com does for its customers, I can’t help it.

So far I’ve written 5 books about designing for CNCs…

Passion

I believe that being enthusiastic, or as I call it, passionate, about a subject or business is the best way to help educate customers about the opportunity that joining-up with you can provide. I started CNCROi.com almost a year ago now and in that short amount of time, I’m proud to say that every major company (and many minor ones) in Niagara Region have become a customer of ours. We’ve gone even further into the United States since founding as well and even Europe already!

These range from small mom-and-pop shops and artists looking for custom rubber stamps to fortune 500 companies looking for professional interior signage and unique promotional pieces or marketing materials to help their sales people attract the attention they deserve and stand out from the crowd. I do not base my metrics on this alone though, here’s what counts to me.

Customers paying their bills

I ran a 3D animation studio and later, a web development firm and a few others before founding CNCROi.com, one constant is you always have that one customer who stiffs you. So far, each and every one of our customers have paid their invoices in full, not only that, most have done so within the 14 day window we put on our invoices.

Customers referring us to their customers

Paying your bills is great but nothing beats getting referrals. Consider this, CNCROi.com does no advertising, NONE! No Yellow Pages, no radio, no news print, nothing! How do we get our customers? The best way possible, face to face and through referrals. I tell my customers one thing, we only deal with the best and if we are talking to you, you are in the winners circle already!

Repeat business

One of the pitfalls of running a custom CNC shop is that we are only “hired” when there is a need for us, if our customers don’t need us “now” or have a project we can help them with, they aren’t calling us until they do. Well, the vast majority of the companies we’ve done business with not only call us down the line for another project we can help them with but also go out of their way to try to include us in key meetings with purchasing and marketing departments. That’s a massive vote of confidence!

We care!

Seriously, we really do. Some of our biggest customers have asked us through the months for ideas and samples to help them close a deal or to move things with key decision makers higher-up in the company. What’s unique about my business is that we don’t stick them with an invoice for our time or sample production at the end of the meeting, we give them exactly as they ask, confident that giving these “internal supporters” within companies of ours require the right tools and materials to help them succeed. Their success is directly, our success.

Sometimes things go great and we get a project, sometimes we don’t but I always appreciate and celebrate the fact that people had enough initiative to reach out to us to give them the expertise and capabilities that make them shine with customers and their employer alike.

Business is about trust and communication

Business is about finding and developing open lines of communication and trust. Most of the time, things go great, sometimes they don’t but regardless, each is an opportunity to get to learn from one another and grow deeper bonds for mutual success.

Going back to what this blog was originally about, a comment about my enthusiasm for the CUSTOM CNC services we offer, as I run through my 5th book about the subject, I’ve come to realize that this passion has been brewing for a very long time. Back in 2009 I wrote a book sharing what I knew at the time and since then, the knowledge I’ve gained from talking to amazing people both inside the industry and outside has been huge.

I’ve come to develop strong friendships with very interesting people and very much look forward to meetings with both people I know and those I have yet to discover to learn from their skill set and seeing how that can benefit my customers. Like I tell customers and prospects, CNCROi.com is about supply chains, we want to be in yours and you in ours.
