2014 Hyundai Tucson… things slowly coming together!
No matter how well you plan international logistics, it always seems to take longer and cost more money! I was supposed to get everything to start the business mid-June but various issues keep popping-up which push things further back, the boat carrying most of my stuff is taking 3 weeks longer than anticipated etc. Starting CNCROI.com requires me to have a car… to carry stuff, networking etc.
Well, the Canadian DMV doesn’t accept Australian drivers licenses at face value, they wanted me to get original documentation which basically has the exact same documentation as was present on my Australian drivers license but in paper form. When I was in Australia, my Canadian drivers license was taken at face value – not here apparently and I’m a citizen of this country and have been driving here for almost 20 years on a valid CANADIAN license!
No CANADIAN drivers license means you can’t get insurance thus I’m unable to drive a car off the lot… in anticipation OF getting my license – I decided to get a car, a 2014 Hyundai Tucson from Grimsby Performance Hyundai – that’s it in the picture below now so that when various departments get their paperwork sorted, I can at least drive-off without any delay. That’s the plan at least. Of course, the Australian DMV doesn’t courier any documents, everything is “regular 2-weeks to get here mail”. They were kind enough to send me a PDF though in the meantime… but Canada doesn’t accept it.
Just like CNCKing.com – I want to document the entire business as it grows… even before it officially opens… of course, with all the issues popping-up being included.
The good news is I now have business cards, am over my jet lag and already have clients waiting in the wings once the dust clears. I got a place for all the machinery now once it arrives… it will be great fun to provide CNC services to clients across North America using the most up-to-date technology. Trotec Laser + ShopBot Tools Router + 3D Systems Printers + TorchMate Plasma cutters… a CNC powerhouse! Can’t wait to officially begin business… will be awesome!
