2018 Favorite Projects
As I look back upon 2018’s documentation of my favorite projects of that year, a few stand out immediately. Here are but some of my 2018 favorite projects.
Out of the 100+ videos I published online last year across a few of my websites, the first was actually for a website that I’ve learned “on the road” about for the past few weeks to help me relaunch, that would be TeaLightBox.com.
Funny enough, my last video published of 2018 was of this website and evaluating what I did right and mostly wrong with it almost a year later.
One of my first duties of the new year is to update TeaLightBox.com and publish a new video answering many of the questions I received during my trade show experiences which I think will help the site gain better traction for 2019.
One of the first video projects I did release in 2018 was making 400 custom wooden coasters, this is hopefully an annual project so I look forward to talking with the customer again in a week to get it off the ground again.
This was definetely the year for CNCROi.com to start showing the absolute diversity of projects we take-on in the shop, both personal and for clients but one project that really stands-out to me is the welding table attachment I made on my custom downdraft table.
I really haven’t done much welding since, the biggest reason for that is my CNC router literally taking-up the shop space that I planned to use for welding.
2018 saw many additions to the shop, equipment through business ideas, one of which was my Drais BMT which, like TeaLightBox.com, I plan on hitting the ground running with in a month or two once I get other things sorted.
From CNC laser to CNC router and then CNC waterjet, there is just so many project capabilities and side business ideas I want to expand upon in 2019 regarding projects, welding is really something I want to do more projects of as I have no lack of things in the shop alone that could benefit from the strength that only steel gives.
I also run another website called CNCKing.com which I hope to get up to date as well, I just focus my energies on one issue at a time and that means side businesses sometimes go weeks or months without any intervention.
What I really like about the projects I’ve released on CNCROi.com specifically over the past year is the diversity of materials I’ve been working with, from very high density plastics for custom tool drawer inserts.
To production runs of cigar ash trays which itself began to pick-up a bit of steam.
And of course, just projects I always wanted to do but never had the time or equipment to actually pull-off until very recently.
I really enjoyed all the awesome custom rubber stamps I got the pleasure to make for our customers too, one day might be making custom stamps, the other etching metal plates and another woodworking away with the bandsaw.
From custom props…
to cabinetry…
to cabinet branding…
2018 is for sure a great year to remember and believe it or not, I still have a backlog of about 15 videos (and related blog content) to release but have been too busy to put together.
Thanks again to all my customers and suppliers, without them, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do each and every day.
