Black Anodized Aluminium: Custom Etching
Black anodized aluminium is the most popular color and tag type that CNCROi.com produces for customers across North America, Europe and the Caribbean.

The reason is simple, it’s incredibly durable, light weight, looks fantastic and endlessly customizable from wineries needing row locators to industrial tags for machinery.
Any and every aspect of these black anodized aluminium tags could have been customized, from the thickness to the shape, hole placement, size and quantity… even colors but the end-etching is always an off-white/grey color.

Even highly precise requirements like measuring tags for engineering and home inspection use can be produced by CNCROi.com.

The nice thing about laser etching anodized aluminium is that the results are permanent, this will not fade, crack or peel over time nor can it be easily removed, unlike screen or UV printing – you’d have to destroy the tag to get the etching off that CNCROi.com produces on them.
Additionally, anodized aluminium is very corrosion resistant, especially if a clear coat is applied, so although it isn’t as durable as stainless steel over eons, it does give it a very good run for the money.

Although CNCROi.com refuses to color-match anodized aluminium, the process doesn’t lend it self to that kind of color calibration and settings, we can get pretty close over a production run regarding color, there will always be some variation though depending on the dyes and placement in the vat, even with black.
The sparks you see is the instant vaporization of the anodizing layer over the black anodized tag being removed, this is a permanent process, meaning the tag would have to be stripped and re-anodized in order to remove the laser etching.
CNCROi.com pushes through a lot of stainless steel panels in the shop for a wide variety of applications but don’t forget a lot can also be done riveting black anodized aluminium to those control panels too.

Unlike stainless steel or even mild steel, aluminium doesn’t hold onto heat, so we don’t have issues with warping even on the thinnest black anodized aluminium tags as we’d have on other materials, even plastics.
The precision of CNCROi.com‘s top of the line laser means that the first or the millionth custom black anodized aluminium tag will be identical, even for small letters or specialized branding requirements like QR codes and the like.
There are many ways to go ahead and cut holes through black anodized aluminium tags by CNCROi.com, laser, punch, router or even waterjet.

The results as you see on this short production run was made using our standard black anodized aluminium welding tags which CNCROi.com mass produces in the thousands for clients with small volumes and malleable requirements which this suits them fine.
Even close-up, you can see how the sharpest corners in the font come out sharp and clean without any bleeding like you’d see using other technologies possible for this application, including sublimation.
