Buffalo, NY USA Mini Maker Faire May 12th, 2018 Application Accepted
I’ve gone to quite a few Maker Faires through the years but generally it was a last minute thing but this year I plan on being far more organized regarding these events but if you want to meet-up, I have been accepted for the Buffalo, NY USA Mini Maker Faire May 12th, 2018 where I’ll have a small exhibit!
I didn’t just deliver the news, I was also in it!
What’s funny is that I was in Make Magazine (Volume 40, Page 19 – July 2014)…
Before I even attended my first Maker Faire and that Detroit show was a total fluke as I didn’t even know there was such a thing until ShopBot told me about it and a few months later, I got a booth at the New York Maker Faire with a ton of books and models.
I decided to send a few pics to Make Magazine and I was totally surprised that they put a full page picture that I took in Perth, Australia, in their magazine!
Before that, I was featured on ShopBot’s website eons ago showing just what was possible using my amazing ShopBot Desktop which I still have to this day!
I would later rebrand WoodMarvels.com to CNCKing.com and after shutting the site down, moving the content and all the blog posts to live-on at CNCROi.com.
Heck, I still remember when I hit my first million views on YouTube.com… notice how much the site has changed since then!
All this design work seems like a lifetime ago, things have certainly changed dramatically once I returned to North America to start CNCROi.com, I moved from virtual to physical modeling and design making in a HUGE WAY.
This was my booth at New York Maker Faire 2014 – notice I had nothing about CNCROi.com, that’s because I didn’t really have anything to show, no brochures and not even business cards… I didn’t even have a logo yet!
For the past year, I really had to focus entirely on CNCROi.com, I didn’t get out much, it was just straight work, networking, video production, photography, designing and repeat as often as possible.
Although that’s still very much going on, it’s far more streamline (efficient!) now and you can compare the above table to the one I had at another show just a few days ago to gain some understand at just how much has changed.
What a lot of people don’t realize is just how much time it takes to build-up a library of things to bring to shows, each and every demo that I make on CNCROi.com is something I learned from and it does take a few tries before things go the way I planned them.
It takes a while to learn how to best photograph things and present them.
Just take a look at my latest creation, TeaLightBox.com, I didn’t have any photos that were interesting to me enough to make a brochure until about a week or two ago and I see a lot of potential in that site!
I’ll try to give a big heads-up to big events in both Canada and the USA I plan to attend, my top priority is always getting my customer’s projects completed on time and budget so sometimes I don’t know until the last minute if something is possible or not but I’ve been at this for a few years now and am pretty sure I can maintain a balance where there was none before.
