These are made from REAL WOOD, generally walnut or basswood that’s been kiln dried to have minimal cracking and after being precisely laser engraved using our Austrian CNC laser, preserved with several layers of clear seal to further protect them from humidity and temperature variances.
Each one of these wooden live edge plaques are totally unique.
These custom wood live edge plaques are very much an on-demand inventory product that is prone to seasonal and demand changes, we are slowly building-up our capabilities to expand our offerings in this product line but quality takes time and we are in no rush to produce sub-par products for our worldwide clients.

How do you make these custom live edge plaques?

I would like to have two identical boards or rounds, is this possible?
No, this is a real natural product, there is nothing man-made about these custom live edge plaques, as such, each is unique from gain pattern through to resin saturation and bark. Yes, that’s REAL bark and we seal that as well though it does chip off slightly during production and shipping.
How much information can you put on these plaques?
As much as you wish but do keep in mind, the more you put on, the less of an impression this will give out. For instance, don’t put your life story on it, put a picture of your face, a picture tells a thousand words!
Can you do paint filling on these live edge plaques?
Yes and no. Yes, it’s possible, but thus far, we have yet to get a design where paint actually makes these custom live edge plaques look BETTER than just the contrast that our CNC laser achieves during natural “burning” of the information onto the surface.
How much lead time do you need?
It really depends on the size and inventory levels, we don’t keep too much of these live edge plaques in stock due to their very nature, they are best straight from the kiln then engraved and sealed. Having these sit on a shelf for months at a time isn’t a good idea as that’s how you end-up with cracking and other imperfections. There is such a thing as a wood that’s “too dry”.
Do you offer alternatives to live edge plaques without the bark?
Absolutely, cherry through pine board that is custom formed to your desires. We can even carve them using our industrial CNC router which gives them added dimension. We don’t typically do this on live edge plaque due to the stresses this puts on the wood but on regular board, that isn’t an issue.
