CNC laser engraving and cutting custom birthday cake topper is easy when you have the right design skills, equipment and materials.
Keep in mind that all of this work is complete custom to the client, meaning we create a design, source materials (can be anything but typically acrylic or wood) and cut it in-house at CNCROi.com HQ.
After the design is approved, we mask the material (wood requires this, not acrylic) in order to make sure the surface after production is clean and without smoke stains.
We then engrave the details followed by tracing out the outline of the letters. This is possible due to the precision of our Austrian CNC laser, most laser shops CANNOT do this as the accuracy (or lack thereof) would be noticed immediately, the outlines wouldn’t match the engraving perfectly!

After engraving a darker outline on the text, CNCROi.com then cuts out the inside followed by the outside outline. This makes sure that everything is perfectly outlined and nothing shifts during the production of this birthday cake topper.
As you can see, the mask is rather dirty, this is why we use it! If you’ve noticed the wood work of most laser shops, you actually see all this junk on their finished pieces. That’s why we use it, clean-up takes a few seconds instead of having to feed the finished work through a drum sander to remove the gunk and resin that sticks to the surface.
We CNC laser cut the inside parts of this custom birthday cake topper before the outline as each step optimizes the end cake topper. If we did it reversed order, meaning cutting the outline, than inner parts then outline then engraving, things would have shifted slightly… maybe our customers wouldn’t notice but we surely would! You pay us to notice things that you wouldn’t so that no guests will bring up surprises to you that will make you regret your purchasing decision!
