CNC Laser Engraving and Cutting Laminate
Laminate comes in hundreds of color combinations, textures and styles… mix it up with CNCROi.com‘s Austrian CNC laser and the results are mind-blowing! Having a wide format CNC laser means we can do incredible production volumes quickly, efficiently and precisely!
In this case, more samples for a mailout. These where blue on white laminate that come out great and with our Trotec Speedy 400 flexx, were able to precisely engrave and cut endless bulls! Of course, these could have been done on anything from steel to acrylic, wood to glass but for this application, and for some sample diversity, this laminate fit the bill perfectly!
For this material, we used our cutting table, using a few tricks of the trade, cutting this laminate produced no backflash as it was lifted just slightly off the bed. There is no need to mask this material. The engraving and cutting process are both done with our 100 watt CO2 laser source, looking at the picture, you’ll notice the lens is gold (flexx lens for CO2/fiber) instead of our blue lens used exclusively for metal.
CNC laser engraving laminate is a very clean process, the resolution we get is fantastic and although you do see some soot build-up on the surface, a damp rag takes care of that with little fuss. I wished wood was as easy to work with for removing resin! The extraction and vacuum table are working overtime on this project but you still get quite a bit of material.
The laminate we use is engineered specifically for CNC lasers, the properties of the plastic have the absolute best melting and vaporizing points possible. This produces the best results rather than just grabbing various random laminates at the local supply store, it costs more but the results are worth it!
Here is a video showing you the entire process from start to finish! You’ll notice that our CNC laser is cutting the outlines out with absolute precision, following the outline regardless of the orientation of the bull. We have accuracy down to a fraction of a mm and the best part is that it’s repeatable from the first cut to the thousandths.
