CNCROi.com Coming Along Nicely!
When I first set-up CNCROi.com, I wanted it to be a destination for customers to get a feel for how our services could augment their capabilities while, at the same time, educate them about how our stuff is made… all without showing anybody the projects we actually do! Not easy!
The stuff we do here in the shop isn’t rocket science, it takes time to learn how to do it properly and good management to meet deadlines and great communication to establish realistic budgets and timelines. I didn’t want CNCROi.com to become yet another “here’s our business… BUY BUY BUY” but more along the lines of “come see what we do, and contact us when you need us”. It’s quite a different approach and I think builds better long-term relationships.
The easy part about this business is by far the machinery, I invested in the absolute best and then added other features to our custom CNC shop to make damn sure everything goes according to plan when project rolls in. There is nothing worse than starting on a project to discover you are missing a tool or running low on wrapping paper and it’s 2 am and the project is due by 7 am before any stores open!
There is some serious redundancy going, all to feed our Austrian Trotec Speedy 400 flexx as efficiently as possible… there is no point in getting a whack load of projects that we can’t finish anymore than just sitting around and waiting for a project to fall on our lap. It takes proactive reminders of our capabilities and passion for the CNC industry to get ahead in this space.
The one thing I had a clear focus on for CNCROi.com was our customer base, I didn’t want to open-up a trophy or sign shop – not that there isn’t anything wrong with that – but I wanted my company to be different. I wanted this company to be part of larger supply chains, whether it was mill work or manufacturing, fashion or architecture – we are the unsung heroes who augment other companies abilities to provide awesome value to their own customers. This is why, from the start, I never discussed our customers or showed projects we did for them. I can’t go about telling companies “yeah, we want to be part of their company” then having their customer see the work we did on our website!
Each time I do a new blog post, I review the relevant sections on CNCROi.com and update them with new imagery and information, sometimes it’s a complete rewrite and other times, just replacing an old picture with a better new one. I think it’s this progressive improvement that’s really starting to pay dividends on this website and as a result, the customer base we are attracting. Doing all this work in one shot would be insane, incremental improvements overtime is a far more logical approach.
I’m very proud of how things have progressed over the past few months, the site and company are growing in the right direction. Thanks to all our customers, we will continue to grow and diversify. There are always capability holes to plug-in a company, what makes the CNC industry different is that holes tend to be pretty damn expensive to fill but thankfully, with your continued support, we’ll be able to grow in capability to the benefit of all.
