CNCROi.com: Custom High Visibility Signage
CNCROi.com is doing more and more CUSTOM signage, the options for cool signs are as endless as the material choices – most recently, the high visibility type. I met-up with a potential client last week and he was focused on a specific market segment with his business where HIGH VISIBILITY is essential so I thought I’d make a quick video showcasing one being made.
To give you an idea, we’ve made signage for a Fortune 100 company a few months back as well as a local professional business, the quality is the same, just the requirements are different. Keep in mind, I make my samples SMALL so I can carry them with me to meetings, the actual sign can be significantly larger!
I’ve got the shop looking a bit more presentable after a year of getting things organized since moving from Australia (read my last book to read about my journey) so I can start making more of these “live” videos. I’ve been solely focused on growing our customer base so time needed to film and edit myself looking like a deer in front of headlights took a back seat.
The first step is picking the laminate, there are a TON of different options on this front, endless color combinations and even texture. You want a laminate that looks like steel? We got it. If you want something that looks like wood, we got it too!
In this case, the goal was high visibility, so bright yellow and black is a perfect combination for industrial, consumer and retail applications where you really want something custom that stands out. The black and white is also another good option as is the red and white laminate depending on location.
After the design is established, it’s putting it into the laser and going about the engraving and cutting process. If you are looking at ultimate durability, we can get this done in steel which is then anodized or powder coated (volume depending) industrial yellow or orange with a few slight design modifications and then fiber mark the text and details out – the durability will be significantly increased!
There are really A LOT of options, which is why I always ask clients what the application, budget and quantity they have in mind as that will dictate the path to be taken.
The nice thing about laminate is that it’s very easy to clean and you can glue it onto just about anything using 3M adhesive tape that’s applied before cutting (so it matches the entire backing). If you wanted this “attached” to a wood panel or anything else with a slightly larger contour (think corporate award), no problem!
The nice thing about having a wide format CNC industrial Austrian laser is that we can handle very large quantities of these materials and others with relative ease, we don’t need to tile our production and having one of the fastest machines in the marketplace allows us to handle jobs that would simply take too long using a traditional CNC laser.
Looking at it closer up, you can see there is some slight warping from the heating process that occurs when engraving so much of the surface but this easily goes back flat so it isn’t an issue that’s of much concern at all. The results are FLAT and consistent, something that’s very difficult to achieve with a bargain basement CNC laser.
