Going custom is easy, as I wrote in the previous blog article but it negates the question as to WHY you want to go custom in the first place?
Now that we’ve mostly settled into our new location, I can start putting-up the various lighting so I can continue making videos but until then, exploring why a company like CNCROi.com even exists is a fun exercise.

A lot of our work and projects we complete across North America and even some distinct places in Europe are commissioned by us because the customer just can’t find what they want in stores.
Whether that’s furniture, wall plaques or small custom key chains for an upcoming wedding, our very nature of non-mass-produced-junk means that you get what you want, how you want it.
A great example of that are custom mylar or polycarbonate stencils we make, it’s a quick and easy way to brand just about anything but good luck heading to the local Walmart and asking them for a stencil of your logo to be made to your specs.
It’s the same thing with heavy or awkward items, take this very heavy piece of walnut below that was for a wedding, the reason for all that blank space? Well, the guests will be signing all around it and then it will be sealed for something that will be kept for generations.
Again, you can’t find this kind of stuff just about anywhere, it’s highly specialized and thus, has more value.

It’s no surprise that something that isn’t a commodity has more value and meaning, it was made just for you, your needs, your desires and to fulfill a want that you have, whether it’s a business needed a custom rubber stamp with your logo on it or for use at an event to show people gained entry into an event through the front door.
There are so many things in life that just don’t fit that cookie cutter selection of 3 you typically see at a store and acquiring all the tools to make it yourself can be rather prohibitive if you don’t already have a whole shop dedicated to custom production.
It can be something as simple as the store not having what you want in Butternut or Red Cedar and can’t or won’t do any additional personalization for you.

I can literally write all day about how custom and personalized our offerings can be across endless materials, but I think the project that shows you the diversity of our offerings best is this simple chipmunk puzzle.
If you wanted each piece to be 6ft tall our of stainless steel and annealed black, WE CAN DO THAT!
If you wanted each piece to be 1/8th inch (3 mm) thick MDF (like this one) or half-inch (12 mm) thick out of solid steel, WE CAN DO THAT!

We make lots of stuff for larger multinationals (corporate awards through permanent ID#s on products) and generally, their specs, budget and timeline are well-known but CNCROi.com also produces items for artists far and wide and people with needs in between!
This huge diversity of “needs” means that I’m exposed to a huge variety of materials, production ideas and processes so when it comes to making YOUR item, I can actually suggest ideas and concepts that maybe you weren’t aware of.
I’m also not shy about testing out the durability or making prototypes of items that were never tried or made before to see if they can last for your application as we have a full size industrial sand blaster here in the shop as well!
Due to NDA, the vast majority of our production never sees the light of day on our blog but it doesn’t mean that experience is also wiped clean from my memory.
We also have lots of equipment that allows us to make things even more customized to your needs, for instance, the above bandsaw helped us resaw oak planks into custom laser cut and engraved bookmarks but even further, it allowed us to produce a bunch of corporate awards without the laser burned edges the customer didn’t want.
