Custom Designed & Branded Shop Mirror
CNCROi.com needed a custom designed and branded shop mirror, here’s how we made it! I’ve showcased our custom mirror capabilities but I wanted to kick things up a notch to showcase that we can also do multi-layered work on this medium as well!
As we make everything from scratch at CNCROi.com, we have an incredible amount of flexibility when it comes to making just about anything you can imagine, and that includes custom branded mirrors.
Although today’s project is only TWO LAYERS, it can just as easily be extended with custom inlays, different material combinations and the like to suit just about any application you have in mind.
The custom design and branding options when it comes to mirrors for instance is pretty much infinite in scope, size and shape.
Unlike the other custom branded mirrors I’ve showcased here on CNCROi.com, I wanted to make this one with an overlay of engraved details, sure, it covers-up the mirror but for the shop, there is still plenty of mirror to work with.
When you go into any bathroom, the mirror is generally an afterthought, they are boring, why not make it fun and something that also shows your brand and marketing message to both employees and customers!
Our Austrian industrial laser is capable of incredible precision, clarity and repeatability, so whether you wanted one mirror or hundreds to be all the same or completely different, that’s no problem for CNCROi.com!
Additionally, if you wanted to have a mix of materials, for instance, a lamacoid front with acrylic inlays followed by a frame made out of hardwood, we can make it custom to your spec.
As with just about all the projects I do here in the shop, I see two pieces of scrap and my mind decides on what type of blog project I’ll use to showcase CNCROi.com‘s custom capabilities.
It so happens I had a piece of off-cut mirror and 1/8th inch or 3 mm MDF lying around so it was time to put them together and making something unique and functional. Hence the idea for custom branded mirrors.
As our wide-format industrial laser engraves an image and our updated brand and website address, you can see smoke coming off the surface.
This is simply the material that made-up the MDF that’s being vaporized, instead of using paint for contrast, I decided to just use the material itself for this custom branded mirrors.
Notice the sharpness of all the details, it might be a bit hard to see, but I want you to look at how sharp the leaves are on this palm tree, you can see each individual piece of them, even the bottom bit of grass is precisely engraved without any double-lines or missing ones on this custom branded mirror.
The bright white light you see is our laser instantly vaporizing the surface of the MDF to a depth of about 1/32th or less than a mm deep, we can go deeper when making custom branded mirrors but the additional laser time (hence cost) isn’t really required.
Due to the fact that everything at CNCROi.com is on-demand, we can make similar projects in a huge variety of price points, for instance, MDF with mirror is probably the most cost-effective while moving to something like a Corian with matching inlays would be at the top end.
If you wanted the mirror to be made using stainless steel, iron or just about anything else, we can do that as well, but there isn’t a point of us giving you a quote if you haven’t established your budgets yet as there is no limit as to how high we can go.
I took a close-up shot of the palm leaves, you can see, total sharpness even if the image is a little blurry!
Imagine having custom branded mirrors in your business where even the most intricate designs are totally viewable and workable, we have over a thousand DPI resolution on most materials, compare that UV or screen printing where generally, things are produced at half that resolution!

The advantage of “cutting up your mirror” into segments with a front overlay as I’ve done here is that you can also have a large variety of different colored mirrors as well.
Do you want custom branded mirrors with additional color schemes throughout to display even more unique branding ideas or to gain additional interest? Here’s an example of what we could have done with this mirror just as easily.
So, we could have added birds, the color of the sand, the sky and a bunch of other unique features just as easily as what you see on the front overlay.
You are also not limited in the amount of overlays and underlay, do you want custom branded mirrors where you can even move some elements? No problem!
The extra nice thing about custom branded mirrors is that they also reflect light, and yes, we can also put lights behind them to make elements shine as well!
What this means is that if you have a dark corner in your business, putting a mirror instantly brightens it up and makes it stand out.
After the CNC laser engraving is done, it’s time to go ahead and cut out the inside elements of this custom branded mirror. Your custom branded mirrors would follow a similar process.
The step is engrave, next step is cut and then it’s putting the multiple layers together and bonding them.
My focus at CNCROi.com with these blog posts it to show you ideas of what we can do, custom branded mirrors is just a glimpse of that. We’ve even made custom cake toppers using mirrors as well!
If you wanted a personalized gift for a corporate or personal event, we can just as easily make something as “small” as a cake topper and “big” as a full length mirror.
We can also make both, regardless of scale, identical if you wished using the same materials, how’s that for totally custom?
In this element, I’m cutting out the Sun from this MDF overlay, I could have just as easily put in yellow acrylic into this area that would have accentuated this element of this design or painted the back of the mirror “yellow” or even just painted the MDF that’s being cut out yellow then stick it back in.
There are so many ways of going about making custom branded mirrors, and if you didn’t want this to be a mirror, that’s no problem either.
Some people like room dividers, architectural dividers or ornaments that are stuck on a wall to add additional detail to a room, CNCROi.com can make that no problem in just about any material combination you wished.
The palm tree could have been cut out instead of engraved for instance, and another material put into it or just left as-is so you’d see more mirror pop-out of the frame.
The same could have been done with the logo, smaller branding and if you wanted an entire custom branded mirrors series to be made of number or letters or shapes of any kind, CNCROi.com can make that too.
Although we are focusing on custom branded mirrors in this post, try to imagine this not being a mirror at all, the same processes are done for weddings as custom table displays, window frames, door frames or just about anything else that you’d like to have transformed into a unique architectural element by CNCROi.com.
Our Austrian CNC laser is now cutting out the inside elements of the overlay MDF, I wanted it to be extra thick to showcase the border accuracy of the entire custom mirror project on purpose.
The surface as not masked as I personally like things that show a bit of smoke but if you wanted clean lines on all edges, that’s not a problem even if this was something completely different.
Custom branded mirrors are also far lighter than their real glass cousins, this means, for aircraft to boats, if you want something that won’t break on you, making hazardous shards, or lightweight, CNCROi.com‘s solution is perfect for you.
The durability of our custom branded mirrors is also very good but you have to keep in mind that this is acrylic, as such, it does scratch but I’ve had mirrors for years made out of this without any scratches as, how often do you actually clean a mirror?
The mirror reflective material is also on the back, which means any shallow scratches can also be buffed out or flash re-melted.

Now that the inside of this custom acrylic mirror overlay is finished, it’s time to cut it out of the MDF scrap, by going with engraving, inside cutting then outside, CNCROi.com ensures absolute precision on your project start to finish, first to millionth.

Removing the scrap pieces, you can see it’s taking shape wonderfully!
As you can see, there is PLENTY of room on our Austrian laser bed for far bigger custom branded mirrors of all shapes, patterns and sizes.
If you think about it, this would look great as a divider between cubicles, a door frame, window frame, wall detail or ornament. We are just taking it a step further for our unique application.

Compared to the complexity of the overlay, custom branded mirrors material is rather straight forward.
I could have cut out each element to save material and done an inlay instead of an underlay but I wanted something that was dead-easy to assemble, and putting one material over another doesn’t get any easier construction wise!
For instance, here’s an example of how custom branded mirrors could also be constructed.
And here’s yet another idea of how overlays and underlays can be put together to make custom branded mirrors, for instance, the above American flag could have had the red, white, black or blue elements as a mirror just as easily as the flag below.
The grid pattern could have just as easily been the mirror element, front or back, including paint filling and a bunch of other ideas integrated into custom branded mirrors.

What I find ironic is that the backing mirror of this project is essentially the same shape and size as most mirrors that are mass-produced, so if you desired it, we can totally work off the dimensions of your own mirrors and create the elements that go in front to customize it.
The special protective plastic on the front of the mirror makes sure it doesn’t get scratched during production, this is important as the last thing you want in a custom branded mirror is to have it full of scratches.
Having an overlay also helps to protect the mirror, which is yet another advantage to what CNCROi.com can offer you.
Putting the front and back element together reveals how amazing this custom branded mirror will look like once done, filming and taking photos is tough when it comes to mirrors as they are so highly reflective.

Now, putting both the front and back element, you can see how wonderful this mirror has come together.
There are some smoke stains on the surface, which I’m totally fine with as it adds additional detail to the mirror (we are a laser shop), but again, those can be sanded, painted or masked to not exist if you so wished it.
