Custom Laser Engraved & Cut Signage Beware: You are NOT alone in Yellow/Black Laminate
CNCROi.com does custom signage across a variety of materials at different sizes for a variety of applications. This is a custom laminate sign that doesn’t require any paint filling, secondary process like sand blasting or ink printing and looks fantastic in any light!
Today we’ll focus on a bright yellow laminate with a black backing. It provides fantastic contrast in just about any environment due to the color scheme and we actually use this for custom high visibility signage for select customers too!
If you are wondering where that maple leaf on the right of this scrap piece of black and white laminate comes from, here’s what CNCROi.com made from it last time around!
Back to today’s project, this time around, we’ll make a funny sign for a trade show we are attending shortly. As with everything in business, we evolve and make product based on our customer’s requirements and preferences at the time. Signage is no different!
The process is the same as with just about every other type of laminate signage we make, and that includes wall plaques. It just shows you the diversity of this materials!
Whether you want gold on black, yellow on black or any other of the endless color combinations, CNCROi.com can help you make a custom laminate sign just for you!
If you look closely at these images, you can see the little explosions of vaporized material flying off the surface of the custom laminate sign we are making. They aren’t very high and happen so fast during production that it’s hard to see it without a camera taking a picture of it for review.
How fast is our Austrian industrial CNC laser? The head in the below image is but a blur and that’s pretty close to what you see DURING production. For this custom laminate sign we are making, the resolution is 600 dpi and we could have made it to any size, from 39 inches square down to something that would fit on a key chain, in perfect clarity.
The clear plastic you see over the bottom part of the laminate protects is during transport from being scratched or from dust during storage. It comes off before we do any engraving or cutting as it served it’s purpose and is no longer needed.
You an start to see the fine details such as the hairs on the mosquito on this custom laminate sign becoming more apparent. What’s great is the high precision and repeatability we get on just about all materials we stick in our Austrian CNC laser.
If we had a thousand of these to make with, let’s say, a unique serial code for each, we could do that without issue or even add specialized UPC codes or anything else you’d want if this was for sale in a retail environment.
The challenge with laminate though is that it fits in so many ways into our daily production, it’s finding the optimal use of it, for instance, this makes fantastic key chains and can even be used for custom corporate awards too!
The very bright light you see in these custom laminate sign photographs and the video above are the material being vaporized, that’s why you see the black. The black isn’t from being burned directly, just the removal of the very thin top bright yellow surface.
The orientation of the sign makes no difference either, which is very important when you go into production and want to use every square inch of the raw material. This means that each and every one of these on a full sheet, for instance, can be about 1 mm from each other in various optimized angles and still produce very clear and accurate results regardless.
How does this process compare to the alternative, namely UV printing or sublimation? Well, exterior grade plastic will fade dramatically less and be a lot more resilient to the weather and Sun damage. Sublimation also isn’t as bright, or is UV printing as it quickly fades.
Additionally, this custom laminate sign can be easily integrated with other products, think coasters through wall plaques and other small promotional items.
It also cleans-up very well, just water is all that’s needed to wipe off the residue that settled on the surface and even in a dusty environment, there is no need to use detergents or harsh chemicals to clean it up. It’s also very hard to stain this custom laminate sign.
After the laser engraving and cutting, you can see how clear everything is, there is nothing out of alignment, the edges are totally proportional and parallel to the inner lineage and the text is all very clear and legible.
Lifting it up to the light, you can see there is some minor reflection but there are several types of laminate that we can use and each has different surface qualities. So, if you wanted something that was more of a matte finish, we can get that as well as steel, wood or any other laminate surface.
After a quick cleaning using only water, you can see how brilliant the custom laminate sign is.
Compare the bright color contrast to an earlier sign we made that’s actually in the background of most of my videos now if I don’t stand in front of it.
Even name badges, again, same laminate, just different color combination. In this case, to look like stainless steel.
And yes, CNCROi.com can even make photographs using laminates, check this out, again, from an earlier blog post.
As you can see, the options for custom laminate signage are truly endless, CNCROi.com can help you make the most of it too! Contact us right now to help you with your custom laminate applications!
