Custom Shaker Panels
Custom shaker panels, I learned so much from this huge kitchen job which is why I’ve been mostly offline for the past weeks tweaking production to produce quality results.
This custom shaker panel project required me to rebuild my CNC router table, install a vacuum system and upgrade quite a few things in the shop so that I no longer need to use screws to hold material down as screws and melamine don’t work well together for quality results.
It’s not often that I get a project that really challenges everything I did previously under a strict deadline so it was a crazy week but now CNCROi.com is SO MUCH BETTER positioned to handle these type of jobs and their associated tight specs.
What you are seeing right now in these photos is the custom vacuum table I had to build, through this MDF the vacuum will be generated and suck down the melamine which just isn’t possible any other way using screws or other clamping methods.

The challenge with custom shaker panels is that there is such a huge surface area being pocketed out that any variance in material depth and bit movement produces a not-very-clean result which then requires extensive sanding to fix-up.
After spending the better part of a few days setting everything up, the vacuum table itself only took a day of that, CNCROi.com‘s ShopBot PRSAlpha was finally ready to get making custom shaker panels for this custom cabinetry job!
You can see the huge area being removed from these panels, without the sucking ability of our vacuum table, the surface wouldn’t be flat enough to hold the panel FLAT across the whole 4 x 8 ft sheet which is absolute required when making custom shaker panels of this design.
