Custom Wine Bottle Branding: CNC Laser Engraving with Rotary System

I was looking back at some of the glass work I’ve shown on this blog and it hit me that I never showed our rotary system in action nor engraved any glass wine bottles, well today, we are doing it in spades!
When I bought our Austrian dual-sourced CNC laser with both a CO2 and fiber laser source, I also bought along with it a top of the line rotary system that allows for the precise engraving or cylindrical and rounded objects.
So, I was wickedly overdue to showcase custom wine bottle branding using our Trotec Laser with rotary.
In this case CNCROi.com is showcasing its cone system but we also have a roller system with it as well which I’ll showcase in a future video and blog post.
Like our laser, we also have a dual rotary system to handle just about anything our customers can throw at us!
CNC laser custom wine bottle branding isn’t as easy as you may thing, if there is ANYTHING wrong with the laser resolution, setting or technical, IT WILL SHOW.
Why? Because not only is the laser controlling things along an X, Y and Z axis but also rotating something at the same time!
That’s why CNCROi.com invested in a top of the line wide-format industrial laser, not only can it make tough things look easy but it can also do so repeatedly without mistake or error.
Custom wine bottle branding to our laser is no different from annealing stainless steel or carving out a 12 foot solid wood sign.
That’s flexibility and power!
Custom wine bottle branding is so precise and repeatable that CNCROi.com can actually engrave a wine bottle with label and logo information permanently on the surface WITH THE WINE STILL IN THE BOTTLE.
That’s because our Austrian laser only fractures the upper top surface of the wine glass, never going into with any heat INTO the bottle.
If you really need it for your custom wine bottle branding needs, we can engrave at a thousand DPI but generally with glass, as we are shattering it, even the 600 DPI CNCROi.com generally uses is wicked overkill.
Custom wine bottle branding is no different from engraving flat pieces of glass with the only difference being the requirement of a rotary system.
The reason we need the rotary is just to keep things in focus as we go around the wine bottle, that’s really all it’s used for.
Put another way, if you want to go around something, the machine needs a way to access all around the bottle, hence rotary system.
The fire you see in the shots is only the vaporization of the protective film we put on the bottle, the etching itself produces no sparks or flames if it is clean.
CNCROi.com is only shattering the glass, we aren’t vaporizing it to any significant degree, hence the frosted look like you’d see coming from a sand blaster.
As CNCROi.com, in a production environment, would be custom wine bottle branding one bottle at a time, it means that unlike a traditional wine label, we are able to personalize each one.
What this means is that if you had a limited edition, we can put the edition numbers in sequential order on each bottle or cylindrical object or go with a completely different design for each wine bottle.
Now that the custom wine bottle branding is complete, we can take a look at the results, but first, we’ll just look at what was done before the big reveal.
For this demonstration, I actually did the same design on two different bottles to outline how repeatable and consistent the results are for custom wine bottle branding by CNCROi.com.
The different colors you see in the image below are due to one of the wine bottles being redish while the other is greenish.
The engraving color is always frosty, regardless of bottle color.
I lined-up the two bottles to try to spell CNCROi.com, as you see, I would have needed 3 bottles to do a good job of it, but I think the point of repeatability is well demonstrated regardless when it comes to custom wine bottle branding.
Looking close-up, you can see how highly detailed our work is, there are a few finger prints (hence oil) on the finished piece as I didn’t wipe them down before the photos but you can still see the consistent result.
Even at an angle, the frosting from our laser custom wine bottle branding technique is consistent and clearly legible.
Both custom wine bottle branding performed on these two bottles is at the same height and position on the bottle without any change in variance or sizing all the way around the laser engraved bottle.
If these bottles were full (they are empty in this case), the results would have been the same, there is no difference to CNCROi.com if they are full or empty when it comes to custom laser engraving them.
