Fiber Marking Brass Valve Tags (Part 2 of 2)
Now that you’ve seen how CNCROi.com goes about making a custom acrylic (see previous blog article here) jig ready for fiber marking brass valve tags, it’s time to actually mark them!
Placing all the brass valve tags in the jig is a very straight forward process because all you have to do with the laser is align a few area together and CNCROi.com can begin marking right away. This is what makes a jig such a powerful tool, doing one at a time is incredibly labor intensive but doing almost a hundred at once with our Austrian CNC Trotec Laser allows for incredible efficiencies. There is nothing stopping us from making an even bigger one to do up to a thousands in one “batch”.
Unlike the video you’ll see at the bottom of this page, we actually did the other side of the tags first followed by “88”, there is no particular reason behind this decision it just happens to be the first file we generated. The numbers and icons can be scaled to any size so if you needed a 10 digit alphanumeric or QR code on one side with a logo or safety information on the other, that’s no problem.
Other than seeing our gantry and CNC laser head move, our CNC laser also gives us plenty of little lights to look at while the fiber marking (in this case) is happening. These controls may seem simple but actually, that’s all you really need to align things properly to begin the fiber marking process of these brass valve tags. In the round circle are the arrows to position the laser head, next to that moving the table up and down then you have vacuum table, STOP, PAUSE and a few other controls.
You can see in the above picture what we fiber mark onto the other side of these brass valve tags, these are for promotional purposes so there aren’t any secrets being divulged here. The process is quick thanks to both our powerful 30 Watt fiber laser tube (we have a 110W CO2 in there too!) and a head that can move up to 3.5 meters a second with 5G acceleration.
The combination of speed, precision and power are what makes CNCROi.com‘s custom CNC laser services in high demand with aerospace, manufacturing and millworking industries. Having an operator that is passionate about CNCs is a bonus!
Here is what they look like BEFORE they are cleaned-up. There is a bit of soot on them so the fiber marking will be darker than you see in this picture. The valve tags we offer are not lacquered but we have the capability to add epoxy resin on them to make them last even longer if required.
