Formica Snowflakes: Custom Christmas Tree Ornaments
Formica snowflakes are incredibly durable and will easily outlast just about any other traditional Christmas tree ornament that you hang yearly in your living room or business front door.
What’s even better are the huge variety of different colors and patterns possible with Formica snowflakes, in this case it was green on one side and grey stone on the other but that could have been any color or pattern combination you want.
CNC laser cutting custom Formica snowflakes is a straight forward process that involves glue and masking to get the two opposing colors together as a solid piece of Formica, then it’s sticking it into our wide-format industrial Austrian laser to cut out all these Formica snowflakes.
The process may look messy but all this work before actually laser cutting out the Formica snowflakes saves CNCROi.com a lot of time after production so these are pretty much ready to ship as soon as they leave the machine.
As for the size, shape and detail in the Formica snowflake, your options are totally endless with CNCROi.com, not only that, if you wanted each of these thousand snow flakes to be unique (in this case, they are all the symmetrical same), that’s no problem either for us.
After a sheet of double-sided Formica snowflakes is finished being cut, it’s time to take it away from the sheet they came from and stack them up so that we don’t lose count of how many we’ve done and how many are left to be laser cut!
Due to the nesting capabilities we have, very little waste is produced, we start-off with massive sheets and what we end-up with are smaller sheets like you see below by the time the whole laser cutting custom Formica snowflakes is finished.
The results speak for themselves, perfectly symmetrical (as per customer’s design), incredibly durable and light weight to boot.
Everything you could ever want in custom Christmas tree ornament and then some.
For scale, here’s my finger holding one up, perfect size to easily store during the other months where Christmas trees and Santa Clause isn’t in fashion.

Back for Formica, here are a few more pictures to show you the versatility of this material, below you see one that looks like wood but nope, it’s Formica while the other two look like cork and polished metal.
Another thing that CNCROi.com can produce using Formica are custom inlays, whether it’s one pattern or color of Formica that fits into the other or across totally unrelated materials, we’ve done it all.
Unlike paint that can peel, crack and fade, Formica is incredibly durable, that’s why it’s used by architects and designers around the world for applications such as counter tops to wall coverings.
We can also engrave Formica, though I far prefer actually cutting though and producing inlays when it comes to that application but just to give you an idea, below you can see an inlayed piece of white Formica with an engraving under it.
Across two different colors, you can see the maple leaf is easily moved from one Formica to the other without any problem and within very tight tolerances.
