Glass Etching: Glasses & Bottles Permanent Branding
Glass etching glasses and bottles permanently using our industrial CNC laser with the power to put just about anything using any logo or font onto it.
We’ll start with a bunch of regular glasses and unlike my previous videos, these won’t have a logo on them at all, just different font ideas to prove just about any font looks amazing when it comes to permanent glass etching!
These glasses are not evenly cylindrical as you can see, so masking is a little tricky as you are trying to essentially gift wrap something round using something that’s flat, so there will be some overlap just by trying to mesh the two together.
CNCROi.com masks its glass because it gives a better result and makes clean-up faster, same as with wood and other materials we use consistently here in the shop.
This is a wonderful font that’s a little hand written feel to it, smooth curves and once the mask is removed from the glass etching looks great and is totally permanent.
Here’s a close-up, you can see the creasing through the letters but it doesn’t affect the end result as our Austrian Trotec Laser easily vaporizes straight through that to etch the glass underneath.
The results look fantastic, consistent and totally repeatable.
CNCROi.com did this same font on four identical glasses and they all came out great.
If you want to get an idea of just how extreme CNCROi.com can take things, check out this video where we brand a wine bottle with both light and deep etching using our industrial laser.
Next up is a smaller wine bottle, clear like the glasses but unlike them, cylindrical in shape consistently, thus no creasing in the wrap which is always preferred.
Quite literally, any design can be permanently etched into glass by CNCROi.com, it can be flat, round or cylindrical in an endless variety of placings.
Permanent glass engraving done by our laser, unlike our industrial sand blaster (CNCROi.com has that too) produces cleaner results because we don’t have to content with over or under spray in which the sand literally goes where you don’t want it to due to the air pressures involved.
As a result, we can offer a far more consistent result when glass etching even in huge production cycles for our winery and party customers.
Although all these bottles are empty, CNCROi.com can etch them full as well, it makes no difference as the glass etching is on the very top surface of the bottle, the heat isn’t focused into the contents, only the surface of the glass.
If you want to get some other design ideas, here’s another video focused on cylindrical items, which most glasses, mugs and other drinking things tend to be.
Now CNCROi.com can engrave “permanent glass engraving” onto a more traditional wine bottle, this time the random font generator went for something a little more blocky which was, like the other fonts shown earlier, no problem.
Glass etching is always the same process, take the glass, put a mask, stick it in the machine, etch and engrave the glass then take it out, remove mask, and repeat.
CNCROi.com can also work around wine labels, so if you wanted just a date going vertically next to a traditional paper label, that’s no problem for us!
There is compressed air shooting down on this along with a powerful extraction system, that’s why the inner part of the “a” flew off in the picture below, not a big deal as it doesn’t affect the laser or the precision.
Here are the results from the wine bottle glass etching using our CNC laser, amazing!
There are a lot of items made out of glass, some may even be on your desk, so let’s watch a video of our branding happening on a plate of glass rather than something round for a change.
After the previous traditional wine bottle was permanently branded with our laser, it’s time to boot-up our random font generator yet again and see what else we can engrave, just to show you what the same words using different fonts on etched glass look like.
Again, clean the wine bottle, mask the wine bottle, etch the wine bottle, remove mask from the wine bottle then clean and repeat onto the next wine bottle.
The nice thing about our rotary system, as you’ve seen in these videos and photos produced by CNCROi.com, is that we can go AROUND an item, you aren’t stuck to just doing things along one axis in a small area with us!
Another bonus from the etching process that’s wrapped is that this can also be easily paint filled next, it’s the same as sand blasting but just more precise and at a consistent depth.
But CNCROi.com rarely has to paint a bottle, the simple reason being that just the contrast from the etching itself but like the deep etching video above, if you want paint filling, we have to go deeper which does add cost.
My fridge had a glass panel inside of it, so just to show you that literally any glass can be etched, let’s see us brand that in the video below!
Regardless of the glass type, size, shape or design you want permanently branded via glass etching, CNCROi.com is the best source for all your glass engraving needs!
