How to Make a Custom Trodat Mobile Printy
CNCROi.com can offer the full range of custom Trodat stamps, including the Trodat Mobile Printy which we’ll make a stamp of today!
The unique feature about the Trodat Mobile Printy is that it easily fits in your pocket, the whole thing, rubber stamp, impression system and the ink pad! It’s quite a unique product that has lots of unique applications.
The rubber we use, like the Trodat Mobile Printy itself, all come directly from Trodat, and that even includes our industrial wide-format laser that we’ve done tons of projects, both rubber and non-rubber related. CNCROi.com is a one-stop solution for Trodat’s entire range of custom self-inking and normal stamps.
The Trodat Mobile Printy is one of the most compact self-inking stamping system out there, we sell them with different ink pad color options as well, in addition to the custom rubber that goes inside of it with your design.
Don’t worry if you don’t have the design file or know how to design, we can help at that end of things and send you a digital proof to approve before going into custom rubber stamp production.
CNCROi.com offers many different rubbers, from carbon neutral through to traditional red rubber, each has their advantage and disadvantage and fit equally as nicely within a Trodat Mobile Printy as well as the full range of other Trodat stamping mechanisms we offer on our website.
Custom stamp making, regardless if it’s for the Trodat Mobile Printy or a custom job to fit on a drum, is a messy process. There is a lot of dust created during the process so these photos don’t really do justice to the resolution and clarity we achieve with our Trotec Laser as everything is hidden behind a layer of hardened rubber (that comes off) and dust.
Of course, rubber only really shines once there is some ink added to it, like you saw in the finished photo of our Trodat Mobile Printy open wide with green ink. That’s when we really see everything come together and the more you use your stamp, regardless of type, the better results you achieve.
The resolution we are engraving into this Trodat Mobile Printy rubber is a thousand DPI, it helps achieve a good mix of depth, high quality imprints and strong shoulder that’s consistent across the Trodat rubber we use. Remember, every part of this comes from Trodat, rubber though laser.
Whether we are making one or a few thousand custom rubber stamps, the process is always the same, the only difference is the design and even at that, they can all be different orientations, sizes and shapes. We work based on your specs for any given project and making rubber stamps, in this case for a Trodat Mobile Printy, makes no difference.
As for custom rubber stamp production, we’ve made whole bed stamps for industrial customers who stick them onto their drums, in that case, we use quarter-inch or 6 mm thick rubber with a durometer of 70. The durometer denotes the hardness of the rubber we are engraving. The harder the rubber, the longer it takes to make a stamp because more power is required to achieve a given thickness.
In this case, this is 1/8th inch or 3 mm thick rubber, it’s plenty for both an engraving and to fit within a stamping mechanism. We could use thicker stuff but for the Trodat Mobile Printy, this is the optimal rubber to fit inside of it for the best results.
Going with thicker rubber does help longevity, as does a higher durometer, but it also makes the stamp harder to work with. Generally for self-inking stamps, you want something that’s relatively soft for a nice even result on paper, if you go with a durometer that’s harder (higher number), then you just don’t get that unless you press harder.
This is why the higher durometer custom rubber stamps we make are generally used for pressing into things, such as clay, cement or other relatively hard surfaces where something very soft, with a low durometer just wouldn’t last as it would wear out so much faster. The durometer of this stamp we are making for the Trodat Mobile Printy is about 65 by the way.
For comparison, the above video showcases the far bigger stamp we are capable of making within a self-inking stamping assembly. It’s the 5212 Professional Trodat Stamp!
Above is what the stamp looks like after it has been taken out of the machine and just wiped with my finger, if I didn’t do this, you wouldn’t see very much detail but after being cleaned, you can see below, how much clearer this rubber for the Trodat Mobile Printy is.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to have all your stamps made in rectangular or square form, we make round ones, triangle ones, basically any shape you want! Here’s a video of a round rubber stamp we made for another of Trodat’s Professional Series steel re-enforced self-inking stamp assemblies, the 5215!
Back to our Trodat Mobile Printy, this is what it looks like close-up, very compact, and very easy to use. It’s impressive that the same self-inking stamp that fits into the huge units I made previous videos about also fits inside of this smaller one too! There is now no excuse to not have a professionally produced custom rubber stamp by CNCROi.com!
Here’s what the Trodat Mobile Printy looks like when it’s opened, the process of inserting the rubber stamp we made in the above photographs into this is quite simple, apply double-sided tape on the flat surface, stick the stamp in there and close.
This must be done though when it’s full opened and extended, otherwise, it can be difficult to get perfect placement of the custom rubber stamp inside of the Trodat Mobile Printy.
Then, all you do is relieve pressure from the stamp and it will close all by itself. Let it sit a bit and after a few uses, opening and closing, you’ll be making awesome impressions with your Trodat Mobile Printy! Don’t worry about the ink from the ink pad getting onto other areas of the rubber by the way.
The stamp will always imprint on the highest elevation, and here are the results fresh out of the Trodat Mobile Printy. You can tell the design needs a little optimization, nothing too crazy and easily fixed, the border was a little too thin but that’s why we test the stamp out first before sending them out, to make sure if there are any issues, we can fix and replace before they get to our customers.
We have LOTS of custom rubber stamp options on our e-commerce site, just click the top heading “buy online” on the CNCROi.com navigation header and you’ll see just what is possible, and we didn’t even cover the non-self-inking products we can offer as well as an official Trodat supplier!
Here’s another video showcasing you other design possibilities, it’s amazing how much variation we have with just a simple stamp. Need some custom rubber stamps for Trodat or other manufacturers? Contact CNCROi.com right now!
