Want beautiful custom integrated floorboard vents in your home? YEP, we make those!

There are endless options when it comes to what’s possible using CNCROi.com to make your integrated floorboard vents to match your style and home decor.

The nice thing about having custom integrated floorboard vents is that your design options are anything you come-up with, in this case, the style is a traditional slot design but if you wanted these to be circles or any other type of shape, we can make them for you just as easily.

For these specific custom integrated floorboard vents, they are being manufactured in the floorboards itself, hence integrated, there is no need to have a large hole to then slot in a register or floor vent, everything is together in one solid piece.

Of course, if you wanted separate floor registers or vents to go with your floorboards, CNCROi.com can both cut out the hole in the floorboards and manufacture matching floor vents to go perfectly with it.

There are a host of ways to make vents of all types, from small to large production runs, we can make them all.

Of course, if you have concerns about possibly falling through the vent due to all the vent holes or the design you end-up with, as seen in the above video, CNCROi.com can make matching stainless steel backings that are seamless yet provide incredible strength.

Much of what CNCROi.com does require some prototyping before a production run as a concept vs real life can sometimes not go the way the designer or architect envisioned.

You can see I’ve been busy at CNCROi.com making a lot of custom vents of all types and sizes, you can see their ghosts cut out of my CNC router table.

Something to always keep in mind with CNC routers is hold-down, as I’m making a bunch of holes in these custom integrated floorboard vents, using the vacuum system was out of the question.

Another option to hold things down was to screw the boards directly to the router table, but as the aesthetics matter for this project, and holes in floors don’t look very nice, the only option I really had to hold everything down while the routering was happening was to use my plywood and Corian tabs which are then screwed to the table.

If you are wondering how those Corian holders were made at CNCROi.com, the video below you shows you the process.

Corian isn’t bulletproof, they eventually crack or break just from the abuse they are put under, I’m due to make new ones but the design I came-up with for this specific job has worked amazingly well for me.

The advantage of using Corian for those hold-down tabs is that if the router happens to go over it, they won’t break the bit, it will just go through them without any damage, unlike making these out of stainless steel.

I’ve got a few designs in mind but the need isn’t an absolute necessity yet for the Corian hold-downs so will make a production run of those later in the year, but their incredible rigidity works great for these custom integrated floorboard vents.

For this project, I used a quarter inch bit to first remove the bulk of the material in the custom integrated floorboard vents and then went over it again using a 1/8″ bit to clean-up and sharpen the corners, this means little to no sanding is required after production has finished at CNCROi.com.

Of course, solid stainless steel vents are completely within the realm of possibility with my company too!

When it comes to custom integrated floorboard vents, there are endless flooring options, we can work with everything from marble to wood, stainless steel to titanium if you have the resources for CNCROi.com to make them for you using exotic materials.

The process is very repetitive, once the prototyping is finished and approved, then we can go right into production at CNCROi.com using the floor boards provided by the customer, whether they are integrated or not, makes no difference.

It’s surprising how much work is involved with making these, the routering part at the end is the easy part, all the prep and file optimization that happens off-camera requires very high attention to detail in order to produce the best results for the customer.

One thing I can’t emphasize enough, in order to have very good results from custom integrated floorboard vents as you see here, a sharp bit must be used, so quite often during big production runs, I start with a new bit and afterwards, even if it “feels” sharp, I throw the bit away.

With CNCROi.com, you can go nuts with design and material options, want your floor vents made out of bullet proof glass or have engraving details or even some cool wizardry that nobody has seen before? We can help turn it in to reality!

There is nothing worse that doing a job using a worn out bit, the results aren’t as nice, the work isn’t as sharp and at the cost of the bit, the saved labor after the routering work is done is well worth it.

The reason you see so little dust produced during the custom integrated floorboard vents production process is due to the fact that the vacuum system is sucking it out as soon as it’s made, this allows for a clean shop with minimal clean-up between boards.

You can see the finished results below, this was a little production run but if you needed a lot more, it’s the same process for CNCROi.com to produce them for you.

Looking at these custom integrated floorboard vents at another angle, you can see there is plenty of thickness to these wooden floorboards, so a stainless steel backing wasn’t required in this specific case.
