Laser Engraving & Cutting Metal Laminates
I did a posting a while back here on CNCROi.com of some laminates being cut and got a question if, in addition to stainless steel metal laminates if we had bronze and gold as well. You bet!
The bed size of our Austrian Trotec Speedy 400 flexx is a meter x 60 cm but we are able to take in pieces that are far larger through the front and back. Luckily in this case, we didn’t need that extra space as I had a few other projects that would have had to been moved around.
I have room to put three of these large sheets in at once onto our bed, this makes for incredible efficiency as time isn’t wasted loading and unloading the machine, with associated jigs and other calculations. Quick & easy is how I prefer to do things!
In this case, I already did the stainless steel laminate so I just had bronze and gold to do this time around.
Even with our powerful extraction and gas kit, we still had a pretty good build-up of laser laminate dust over the pieces, it doesn’t really matter as the laser vaporises anything that settles ahead of it.
Zooming-in, you can see the laser laminate gold will look awesome! We have a very nice contrast that’s tough to see with the camera due to the reflective properties of both the laminate and our protective acrylic cover.
Opening the lid after all is said and done, the bronze above looks great and so does the gold below… only thing left to do now is cleaning them up!
Digging through the CNCROi.com sample case, I put the laminates we did earlier with the fresh ones right off our CNC laser.
Looking good! Just tough to see the true briliance of these materials in photographs.
Luckily I’ve made some videos of the metal laminates being laser engraved and cut – if you want some custom signage for your building, machine or any other purpose, give CNCROi.com a call!
