A Little Bit Custom…
A Little Bit Custom… TeaLightBox.com & MetalBounty.com Unite for one customer project at CNCROi.com!
I know, that’s a lot of domains and for long time readers of my blog, there is also a forth which I mention a lot too.
I’m certainly not looking for more “online work” with CNCROi.com keeping me pretty busy offline as it is, but I have a larger goal than just running and growing a custom fabrication shop, and that is to bring a little bit of custom to everybody’s life and as such, that’s where these other sites come into being.
There is nothing cheap about custom, from the materials through to machinery and time spent optimizing both, CNCROi.com is an all-encompassing passion and as such, I often get ideas for “simple” products that can be customized but yet incredible affordable due to the manufacturing method or the volumes involved with the custom production.
For the Drais BMT, it’s a volume business where each is the same but uniquely etched for the personalization and the reason why I registered the website as MetalBounty.com is because I have a lot of other ideas for small custom METAL items that can follow along the same lines as that concept.
It isn’t just multi-tools, basically, when I go to most stores, I’m really bored – it’s all the same stuff from one to the next and Malls are even worse with their never-ending “same cloths” store after store after store.
The goal with MetalBounty.com is to bring back the wonder of “wow, I’ve never see that before” but at the same time, something that’s incredibly durable and actually useful at the same time.
On a totally different note but still along the “a little bit of custom” was TeaLightBox.com which I started earlier in the year in order to, yet again, bring something unique but functional to the marketplace and I learned SO MUCH from that business that otherwise I never would have known that I didn’t know.
CNCROi.com does custom day in and out, our machinery keeps expanding in capabilities, our expertise and client base grow likewise, but from industrial applications to military and even wedding, it’s generally one-offs or short production runs… though there are of course exceptions.
So going a little bit custom with TeaLightBox.com is a wonderful way to have a night-light on a porch or for a kid’s room but at the same time, using the capabilities of CNCROi.com, we can also just as easily make them out of stainless steel (coming soon to MetalBounty.com) for ultimate durability and again, along the lines of a little bit custom going a long way.
I think the incredible variety of items CNCROi.com can make on behalf of our customers is mind boggling, it never really ends and this entire journey I try to chronicle using these blog posts (when NDAs are involved).
For this project, our customer in the Philippines likes dogs and wanted a TeaLightBox.com to share that love and a Drais BMT for when they go out bike riding… again, that tool is focused on emergency situations and after living in the Philippines for 6 months during my world travels, there is no lack of items on the roads that can cause a flat tire!
This of course is the new design for the TeaLightBox.com, the one that’s glueless so assembly is a breeze and I’d argue it’s just as strong as the old design once assembled – I’m so proud of that business ideas!
You’d think having so many hats would be quite a challenge but really, it isn’t, the heavy legwork is finished for TeaLightBox.com, the design is optimized and proven, the site is up and running, and now I can focus on other things while fulfilling the orders for that site when they come through.
I’ve grown quite fond of whiteboard material through the years and started using it quite a bit for TeaLightBox.com because it’s so easy to clean, provides wonderful contrast and painting the backside really makes it pop when you stick a LED candle inside.
Again, being able to share capability and resources across the main business and the smaller ones is a huge advantage that I really enjoy about having all these online areas to grow my business within.
Of course, if you want a prop made that looks pretty neat (version 1), watch the video below, I will make another one eventually using the lessons I learned making the first.
I learned a tremendous amount painting these custom TeaLightBox.com‘s too, I never made a dog tea light box before so it’s fun to actually make one and share the progress of on this blog.
Once painted metallic silver, it’s time to assemble the glueless design, I just can’t say enough wonderful things about this new design, it’s just so flexible and allows for any material to be put together to make a custom TeaLightBox.com.
Comparing the aluminium old design TeaLightBox.com with the new one painted to look like metal on the inside, I’d argue that they are easily interchangeable but the whiteboard tea light box is dramatically more affordable.
And here’s the final order that will be shipped over the weekend to the Philippines, a little bit custom TeaLightBox.com and Drais BMT from MetalBounty.com made in my CNCROi.com shop!
