Matte Finished Stainless Steel! Custom 304SS Bottle Openers
Custom annealed 304 stainless steel bottle openers by CNCROi.com are now available with a great looking matte finish, which is completely non-reflective and as it isn’t painted, there is nothing added or removed over the lifetime of use these will get.
Like our other 304SS bottle opener offerings, this is annealed in exactly the same way, same settings using our fiber laser source and just as slow. What you see here is completely permanent, you need a sand belt to remove the annealing.
That’s why offering another option has been something I’ve been working on for a while, we specialize in PERMANENT solutions, painting a stainless steel bottle opener is neither permanent nor a good solution.
It’s quite a drastic difference, not just in the reflective quality of these stainless steel bottle openers but also the look of the annealing and the feel on your fingers.
The reason why paint isn’t a good solution for annealing these metal bottle openers is that due to the heat of the laser, the metal gets incredibly hot and as a result, any kind of coating just peels and cracks.
This is why powder coating and anodizing is wonderful for these applications but aluminium just doesn’t have much strength to it and to be honest, stainless steel looks great, why do you want to cover it?
As for resolution, we have exactly the same annealing quality, precision and sharpness with either option, matte or “raw” stainless steel.
You can see how amazing the annealing looks on metal when there is no reflective qualities, it’s quite a different result but with all the advantages of using stainless steel without any of the minus of using silver anodized aluminium, which is incredibly difficult to see.
If you wish to compare this matte finish 304 stainless steel bottle opener, watch this video I made earlier to show you what that looks like.
Here’s what the matte finish looks like by comparison. It’s exactly the same as the stainless steel variant, just processed before the annealing process to produce this surface quality.
As for the reflective qualities of the annealing itself, they are the same, you can see that in the image below how you still see reflection but unlike the raw method of annealing, this reflection only happens where the laser did the annealing, nowhere else.
But at other angles, it’s completely pitch black. You can clearly see how sharp the laser does it’s work on metal. Unlike screen printing, transfer or UV printing, this is a permanent process. It will not fade, crack or peel over time.
It’s very hard to properly photograph any type of reflective metal, which is one of the advantage of this new matte finish that we can add to any type of metal you wish.
But take a look, you can clearly see how much the same metal product differs depending on the angle from which they are viewed.
CNCROi.com offers more than just stainless steel options by the way, we work on your spec, brass through anodized aluminium. Any shape, size, gauge, or now, surface quality.
Holding them in optimal reflective value, you can clearly see the differences in surface quality on these custom stainless steel bottle openers.
Again a closer looks at the annealing results on 304 stainless steel. On the left, you can see my finger, it’s almost a perfect mirror, while on the right, no reflection at all.
Now, you can see, we are getting reading for yet another massive annealing production run. Our industrial Austrian wide-format laser can anneal just about any metal out there, the results depend on the make-up of the metal.
