Singapore Polytechnic Acrylic Keychains
CNCROi.com has made custom keychains using a variety of materials, today we’ll review a recent project we did for Singapore Polytechnic.
I really like the incredible durability of acrylic compared to the alternatives out there, especially after it’s been CNC laser engraved.
These Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains will never fade, crack or peel, the information on them is completely permanent though overtime it may crack due to the natural drying process present in all plastics.
CNCROi.com also engraves INTO the Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains, not just on the upper surface but relatively deep, again, for the durability of the end product, deep engraving actually protects the information engraved more than just a very light pass.
Due to CNCROi.com‘s on-demand approach towards product creation, we were able to make these Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains in one batch using two different “names” for different teams that make-up the Adventurers at Singapore Polytechnic.
Unlike UV printing on acrylic, these CNC laser engraved Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains will also not have their information scratch off, there is nothing added to these keychains, only acrylic itself removed showcasing the information the customer wanted on them.
Of course, if our customers already have custom keychains made by us or sadly, somebody else, CNCROi.com can still help them out with totally custom keychain holders!
These custom keychain holders can be ANYTHING you want, and yes, if you wanted it with highlighted areas using the same acrylic we use in the creation of your custom keychains, CNCROi.com can do that too.
These Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains were engraved in a few different orientations, it just makes the end-product a little more unique, some students will have the engraving going vertically, others horizontally.
As you can see, there is a white powder that’s forming around the CNC laser engraved Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains, this is just vaporized acrylic, so the stuff that our wide-format industrial Austrian Trotec laser is digging out of the material is depositing around the engraving.
This Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains powder doesn’t stick or adhere to the keychains at all, it comes right off during a washing and regardless of the acrylic in use, it’s always white.
In the above video during production, you can see that same white powder and get an idea of just how much information and how flexible CNCROi.com‘s approach is when it comes to custom acrylic work in general.
After engraving these Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains, it’s time to cut them out of the 3 mm or 1/8″ acrylic, first with the hole where the metal key holder will slot into and then the outline of the entire keychain itself, this assures what we produce at CNCROi.com is perfect start to finish.
Notice the fire? That’s because acrylic is highly flammable, but CNCROi.com has many safety precautions built-into our special CNC laser that allows us to safely work with a variety of materials that typically wouldn’t be safe to work with, you can see more fire though these clear acrylic templates.
Each of these Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains is produced one by one and this can be done at infinity across a whole range of thicknesses, opacities and designs, all the same or all different, it’s totally up to you and your budget.
This set of Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains are now finished, but they need to be cleaned-up first to remove the white powder, it isn’t sticky, just a quick scrub under water cleaned them right up.
This is looking amazing, I’m sure Singapore Polytechnic will love their CNCROi.com produced custom acrylic keychains.
Acrylic is nice and shiny, so depending on the angle, you notice other details engraved right into the acrylic which is a neat effect.
To get an idea of what else can be made using acrylic, check out this American flag inspired acrylic sign I made that’s behind me on a lot of videos.
Of course, we can’t forget our Canadian friends, here’s a sign inspired by the Canadian flag using a very similar color scheme to the America flag above.
Right out of the machine, these Singapore Polytechnic acrylic keychains look like the image below, full of dust with a nice flame polished edge, nothing spectacular.
But a quick wash and you can see them transformed, they look like glass but are far more resistant to wear and tear with a fraction of the weight and won’t shatter causing a safety hazard either.
In this case, CNCROi.com also sent 48 metal rings but it’s more efficient to pack them separately than all together when it comes to international shipping of these items, it also helps protect them if they get bumped around in the plane’s cargo hold.
All labeled for easy reference and numbered, makes customs and the customer know exactly what they got and how many they have for easy review and distribution.
Of course, the really nice thing about acrylic is that it can be lit on the edge to make it shine, such as this bull sign I made a while back at CNCROi.com‘s old shop.
CNCROi.com also has a fiber AND a CO2 laser in our machine, this means we are also able to color change plastic permanently, this is not printing, its color changing, which will never come off as nothing was added to the plastic.
Additionally, CNCROi.com can also paint fill acrylic, in this case, a wonderfully unique cake topper using mirrored acrylic.
And if you wanted a full length mirror, any shape, any size with any details, paint filled or otherwise, CNCROi.com can custom fabricate that as well.
It’s really incredible what can be done with acrylic when you have the right equipment, quality acrylic suppliers and most importantly, the knowledge to pull everything together in order to produce the best unique products for customers around the world.
From custom corporate wall plaques to animal shapes, yep, even silhouettes can be made using acrylic.
