Name badges are a must-have for anybody attending a networking event, business function or client meetings. Why? Because it helps people remember your name when you are talking with them and makes breaking the ice so much easier!
The options are endless with CNCROi.com when it comes to making standard or extremely creative name badges, typically, we make these custom name badges 3 inches (76 mm) x 1 inch (25 mm) with straight or rounded corners.
Our custom wooden name badges are permanently engraved, there is nothing that will peel off, fade or break but keep in mind these are REAL WOOD and as such, care should still be taken to make sure they last a good long time.
We generally make these name badges in pairs, one as a spare or kept in the car while the other as a backup. Name badges are easy to forget and lose so it’s always good to have an extra one on hand just in case! Regardless, these are made on-demand
As these custom name badges are done on-demand, they can all have the same or different information, it makes no difference to us and for larger volumes, a database with each column representing a change item (title, name, phone number… ) is required.

How do you make these custom name badges?
We made a quick video showing you how we make these custom name badges, notice the lack of any ink or printing system, they are made with a CNC laser!
This can’t be real wood! How do you get that kind of contrast?
You bet it is! We have highly technical and specialized equipment to essentially permanently engrave and cut the equivalent of what you can do with your home printer but in three dimensions. Generally, we make these custom wooden name badges out of 1/8th inch or 3 mm veneer from a variety of species so that they are strong yet lightweight.
The contrast you see comes from the laser “burning out of focus” after the top surface is vaporized away, this little bit of precise heat causes the resultant engraving to darken relative to the “pure” surface.
I really like your name badges but want something full-color. Possible?
If you are looking for a full-color process on your wooden name badges, we can produce blanks for you to bring to a UV print shop. Our focus is on permanent processes, not those that slowly fade or go away after a few weeks or months. Keep in mind that even UV printed products will fade relatively quickly.
I just need a bunch of generic name badges without names. Possible?
Absolutely, this also opens-up another option you may not have considered, getting us to make the wooden blanks and rubber stamps so you can essentially print as many of these as you wish as you need them.
Rubber stamp ink will fade with time but having blanks ready to be freshly stamped or sand the old ones (these are REAL wood after all) and give them an updated ink stamping!
What kind of resolution or detail is possible on these name badges?
We are capable of engraving up to a thousand dpi though you’d be hard pressed with most designs to notice anything over 500 with the naked eye especially on wood. We generally engrave these at 600 dpi out of habit.
Can you paint fill these wooden name badges?
Yes, we make them with a mask, vaporize off the mas and engrave into the wood, we can then paint fill the resultant engraving, it will cost a bit more but possible for sure!
