Custom Branded Hardwood Coins
As craft seasons is fast approaching for CNCROi.com, I was in need of another batch of custom branded hardwood coins for SandboxRanch.com generational banks, this not only serves as the first coin in each bank but also a way for me to show pricing on it as well to the customers in waiting.
As is sometimes the case, I’m not only a supplier of cool things but also a customer myself!
Although I have lots of scraps I could use to make these custom branded hardwood coins with, I decided to be lazy and just grab one of my finished flat hardwood boards I made a while back rather the flatten and clean-up what was in the bin.
Most of the custom hardwood branded coins CNCROi.com fabricates are as challenge coins, rehab coins or religious coins… regardless of the intended purpose, the process is roughly the same.
When it comes to laser engraving on the coins themselves, any mix of fonts and vector graphics works great, remember the laser is on or off, so grayscale is no good, need black and white for the contrast.
Of course, CNCROi.com can also make 3D coins but the price point is dramatically higher as the carving with our router to achieve this takes a lot longer to achieve and a lot more can go wrong.

Generally our custom hardwood branded coins are between 1/8″ and 1/4″ in thickness, regardless of the wood species that the CNCROi.com customer requests, any thinner, it’s too fragile (this is still real wood) and thicker kinda gets away from the “coin” aspect of these.
The contrast you see on these custom branded hardwood coins is just charcoal, CNCROi.com did not use any paints or dyes to achieve this, as such, it will never peel, crack or fade with time.
Although these coins aren’t engraved very deep, they can still be easily refreshed with a light sanding if they were to ever get dirty, with SandboxRanch.com, we give these with our banks unfinished, they look fine as they are and are plenty durable.
Wood species available for custom hardwood branded coins are endless but most of the time, CNCROi.com uses Oak or Maple, but if you want something else, no problem.
When it comes to coins, keep in mind that this is real wood, meaning each will have a distinctive texture, color and grain pattern, like a snowflake, there are no two alike.
As we are not only engraving these coins but also cutting them out, you can have any outside profile you want, you don’t need it to be dead-round, want it feeling like a gear or whatever, again, no problem for CNCROi.com!
The placement of these custom branded hardwood coins isn’t the best but I was losing a row due to the size of the scrap I was using so I was actually able to produce more units being less efficient, something that’s pretty rare at CNCROi.com!
Coins can be individualized in a production run as CNCROi.com is essentially making them one at a time, so if you wanted for example, coin 1 of x, we can make sequential or any other markings unique on each one on one or even both sides.
