Custom Letters & Numbers (Alphanumerics)
CNCROi.com can make custom letters, numbers, shapes and symbols of any kinds in any language for your applications across a huge variety of materials.
In this case, the application called for something colorful and as this was for a classroom, the teacher asked the students to bring back cereal boxes. There are tons of materials out there that cost next to nothing if you use your creativity.
These letters are made using the font “Arial” and is bolded, you don’t need anything fancy as for a class, a solid and strong font outline is more important than something that’s easily broken. If this was for a wedding, then a very fine and fragile font is fine but for a classroom full of kids, that would be a disaster. Let’s cut some reese puffs, rice krispies, nesquik and kix!
Cereal boxes are incredibly colorful and have interesting imagery which makes for very interesting letters and numbers due to the demographic they are marketed to. We are putting these to good use, and whatever isn’t used is still recycled so there is nothing that’s thrown away.
When you order your custom alphanumerics from our website, make sure to tell us the font style you want, we’d then send you a digital proof with measurements to approve. Alternatively, you can send us an outlined EPS or vector file format (PDF) upon which we can give you a quote to do was you wish.
We can also make these custom letters and numbers out of any material, from cereal box cardboard through to laminates, woods, veneers, corians and even metals. Price point is affected by volumes and material selection as well as font.
Alternatively, we can also engrave, etch or score custom letters and numbers on materials, so instead of cutting through, you see the letter on it. Think of engraving letters across a number of stones, wood pieces like logs or whatever else you have in mind.
Other applications for letters and numbers include custom stencils out of polycarbonate which is another thing we do quite a bit of, each has an advantage and disadvantage, with stencils, we need to fabricate each alphanumeric but you can use it repeatedly almost endlessly but it does have a higher initial cost.
If you have a one-time stencil use, using cereal boxes if fine but keep in mind that it will get wet after the first use while polycarbonate can be washed and is bullet proof, so you can abuse it and it won’t fall apart like cereal box cardboard.
CNCROi.com can even cut these custom alphanumerics to any size, from the size of a paper clip through to human size and beyond depending on the application and materials involved.
We can transform letters and numbers into a variety of custom products as well, from coasters and cutting boards through to motivational wall quotes with double-sided tape behind them for easy adhesion. Let’s cut some berry kix, grahams and cheerios!
So whatever you come up with regarding these alphanumerics, we can figure out a way to make it happen.
In this case, we transformed mini-wheats, shreddies, cocoa krispies and lucky charms into a wall quote that will go into a classroom.
We could have also cut these across several cereal boxes to make larger letters which the students and teacher could then glue or tape together.
Using cereal boxes opens the door to also a cheap material to paint into any color you wish, either as a foreground or background color to provide additional contrast to the wall quote.
The letters and numbers don’t need to be whole either, we can integrate custom engraving and cutting details inside the letters to add a bit more interest to them. Let’s cut some corn pops, reese puffs, mini-wheats and honey nut cheerios!
The image below would have spelled “LASER” if only this motivational wall quote had an “S” in it. Sadly, it didn’t.
The advantage to using our industrial Austrian wide-format laser to cut our shapes is that each letter is precise, the edges are crisp and smooth.
Now, it’s time to cut out the letters again but this time, from a contrasting cardboard to really give the letter above additional pop as they are so colorful.
We could have cut them out of the same cereal boxes as well, it would just require the teacher and student to paint the resultant alphanumerics a solid color.
Regardless of the material used to cut these custom letters and numbers from, they will all be the same.
To give you an idea, we could have cut these out of two different types of laminates of contrasting color, like gold and black or even two different wood veneers. It’s totally up to you and your budget.
Unlike cutting these by hand, which is an option, we can optimally use the resources at hand, with very interesting nesting options that allow us to waste as little paper as possible.
Once the letter are cut out, they are put in an envelope with the rest of the cereal box letters. We could have also made these letters into custom stamps using wood or rubber if you wished.
The scrap also makes for interesting stencils, it’s up to you if you wish to receive these as well.
