Have questions about custom jigs? This should answer some of those questions.

As you see, each aspect of the jig is made one piece at a time, as such, any part of it can be customized to suit just about any need you may have, regardless of platform size or details you require to be added to the final jig.

To create the ultimate contrast, this custom Roland UV jig has a red backing with a matte black front, this makes this jig completely dummy proof, meaning, you know immediately without thinking, that the jig has something in it or not.

The front or top layer of the custom Roland UV jig is now being cut out, this is matte black as mentioned previously, both layers will be bonded permanently after production at CNCROi.com.

CNCROi.com makes jigs for other applications, in this case, a woodworker making custom signage that needed a metal jig to follow their router with manually.

The reason you don’t see the color in these photos or the video is due to the fact that there is still masking on both sides of the acrylic, this protects it during production from burning marks or soot laying on the surface.

If you want a custom Roland UV jig made out of another material than acrylic, from MDF hardboard to stainless steel, CNCROi.com can also cut that out for you in addition to machining it out out of Delrin or other hard or soft materials.

This custom Roland UV jig is also only two layered but we can literally make it out of infinite layers, meaning if you have a part that requires many different points of contact at different heights, CNCROi.com can produce that for you as well.

Some jigs can be HUGE, some small, regardless, CNCROi.com does them all!

As you can see, very little material is vaporized during the production of this custom Roland UV jig, it’s maybe 1/32″ if that, the laser cuts on the line so there is built-in give on the inside parts and the outline of the outside cutting the jig out.

I just finished-up another big job at CNCROi.com and didn’t notice the nozzle of the laser was getting layered with stuff, that’s why it looks a little wacky in these photos, it’s amazing how many things there are to keep track of during production runs and there is always something forgotten somewhere, regardless, this has no affect on the cutting of the acrylic for this custom Roland UV jig.

After all the inside parts are cut out, it’s time to cut out the final outline of the entire custom Roland UV jig so that it can be mated with the bottom red layer for a perfect and flush fit.

Internally at CNCROi.com, we make custom jigs for a wide variety of repeatable applications, in this case, it’s for custom cable tags that we do for other companies.

There is very little fire produced during the production of this jig, CNCROi.com has a powerful extraction system under and to the edge of the table and compressed air shooting down which quickly extinguishes any flareups.

Laser cutting is an awesome tool, and an amazing way to cut acrylic, the bonus is that all the edges of this custom Roland UV jig have a nice flame polished look by default, something that would be a secondary step if we were to make this custom Roland UV jig using our CNC router.

The nice thing about MDF is the material is very easy to work with, I’d say it’s our go-to material internally for custom jigs.

The bonding process takes seconds to occur, once set, the two pieces will not come apart, something pretty neat considering at CNCROi.com we do a lot of woodworking projects and many of those require bonding overnight to achieve the same result.
