My company doesn’t only work with wine and spirit businesses but also individuals looking for a custom bar piece or wall display related to their lifestyle choices.
When it comes to custom wine & spirits branding for businesses though, most of CNCROi.com‘s work is directly related with barrel branding, specifically, branding that can be accomplished using flame and fire over paint, the esthetic fits perfectly with a spirit distillery or winery and it’s environmentally friendly as only charcoal is produced to brand a logo or message.
CNCROi.com employs lasers, routers, waterjets and plasma to create custom stencils, but most of the time, we use waterjet because we can get a lot finer details not achievable using other technologies at our disposal.
Your design options are endless with CNCROi.com‘s stencils, any font and mix of imagery works fine!

The nice thing about stainless steel for custom wine & spirits branding is that it’s flame proof, meaning it won’t catch on fire and it’s heavily corrosive resistant, and of course, you can use spray paint with it just as easily.
Stainless steel is also incredibly durable and easily cleaned, it’s really CNCROi.com‘s go-to material when it comes to making custom stencils for a wide variety of industries and applications.
CNCROi.com also does stencils using our plasma cutter, but for this specific design, the resolution we can achieve with waterjet was required, unlike plasma, waterjet is a very slow process but you gain in sharpness.
Whether you need one or a thousand custom stencils, CNCROi.com can produce them for you in any mix of materials or specs.

As you can see from these photos, waterjet cutting is a wet process where specialize sand known as garnet is infused in a stream of high pressure water in order to abrasively remove material, unlike plasma that just melts it on sight.
Regardless of the technology we use, CNCROi.com always employs the best technology given the budget and time constraints present, at least with us, we have a few machine choices so we can be picky as to what does which project for optimal results.
The next material CNCROi.com does a lot of custom wine & spirits branding stencils with is actually polycarbonate, it’s bullet proof glass and incredibly strong and light weight.
Stencils using polycarbonate or mylar can be as flexible design wise as their stainless steel cousins CNCROi.com produces.

Unlike stainless steel, you DO NOT want to introduce a flame onto this material to brand items, this is strictly for spray paint or water applications, not for anything involving fire.
Polycarbonate is better than cardboard because it doesn’t get wet, and it’s relatively easy to clean, depending on the details present in the stencil – for this custom wine & spirits branding application, this material was totally fine.
The major advantage of polycarbonate is that you can see through it, so positioning onto a substrate is relatively easy with great precision – additionally – polycarbonate can be rolled-up when not in use and easily stored just about anywhere.
If you are wondering how polycarbonate further differentiates from steel, here’s a great video for you.

The resolution we get with CNCROi.com‘s laser is even higher than the waterjet but unlike waterjet, there is no contact with the material during production, so movement isn’t an issue as no water is pushing down or under the material to shift it.
When it comes to custom wine & spirits branding using polycarbonate, it’s not better to have it made out of stainless steel over polycarbonate, it’s just different and CNCROi.com has experience to lead you in the right direction.
By co-incidence, CNCROi.com also had a custom barrel top to also engrave, this is yet another method of custom wine & spirits branding but unlike the other two, this isn’t very cost effective in a production environment and is relatively slow compared to spray paint or propane torches with stainless steel stencils.
This customer had an wine barrel top that needed to be refreshed, so they cut and sanded oak trim onto the base of the barrel top and then CNCROi.com did our laser magic to personalize it further for them.
CNCROi.com is no stranger to woodworking, in addition to a full shop of automated and power tools, we also have experience making items using more traditional methods.

The beam of a laser is incredibly fine, if CNCROi.com was employed to make dozens or hundreds of these, then we’d boot-up the waterjet and make a stencil which we would then torch to produce this, but as this was a one-off, it was more cost-effective to simply throw this wine barrel top into the laser to brand it.
Unlike custom wine & spirits branding solutions that use fire, the laser has a very fine point, so although the work takes exponentially longer to produce, the detail achieved is incredibly sharp.
When I’m not making custom items for customers, I also make stuff for my own personal use, it’s fun to try new things all the time in the shop.

For this specific job, CNCROi.com had to do multiple passes in order to generate both the depth and contrast the customer wanted for their custom home bar set-up.
The nice thing about CNCROi.com is we make things on-demand, meaning if you wanted a whole bunch of different or same stencils, a wack more custom branded wine barrel tops all same or different, it’s all the same to us and you get volume discounts.
After the barrel top is lightly sanded and finished with a clear coat, it will look awesome!
If you are wondering how these technologies compared to plasma cutting, here’s a recent project CNCROi.com completed.

Here’s the finished custom stainless steel stencil after clean-up.
And all three items we produced, each has their purpose and their place, with CNCROi.com we work across any material you need something made in.
