Full Bleed Cutting Board Engraving
This is the first time CNCROi.com did a full bleed cutting board engraving, generally we just put a name or a few words in one of the corners.
What is full bleed cutting board engraving? It’s the same idea as when you get something printed on paper, it means you are covering the entire surface and then a little more to make sure there is no lines along the edges without any “ink” or in this case, charcoal.
Unlike the print world, the only color we produce at CNCROi.com on live edge cutting boards is charcoal, so generally light to dark brown with a little depth thrown-in.
As this is a full bleed cutting board engraving, the laser engraving is happening not only ON the board but extends beyond the sides, just to make sure everything is touched and no seam is produced on the bottom or the edges.
The bright light you see in the pictures and the video is the instant vaporization of the wood on the cutting board surface from the energy produced by our CNC laser, in this case, CNCROi.com used it’s CO2.

The image being engraved on this live edge cutting board is that of a boardwalk, it was provided by CNCROi.com‘s customer as a high resolution image, which we was sharp enough to produce a fantastic result on the wood.
When it comes to your design options, photographs work great if they are high contrast or better yet, black and white, which means the laser is either ON or OFF, this produces a very clear image as otherwise, color and grayscale can muddle the results as the laser isn’t fully on or off on the surface of the wood.
When it comes to your font options for full bleed cutting board engraving, they are limitless, anything works at any size, as long as it fits on the board and within the parameters of the design you want.
If you are a graphic designer, you can go nuts with anything you want when it comes to laser engraving, so go nuts with your creativity.
Juice ditches, CNC routed, can be also put onto any cutting board, of course, they can be customized however you wish.

The customer of this full bleed cutting board engraving will be finishing it themselves using just regular sand paper then adding mineral oil, as with all wooden cutting boards, don’t put them in the dishwasher, this is doubly true when it comes to live edge solid wood.
