Having Fun with 3D Animations

I’ve been working quite a bit since relaunching CNCKing.com (the precursor of CNCROi.com) that was, unlike this business, entirely focused on virtual digital file sales for more than a decade along with published books to boot!

It’s not that my previous animations were bad, they still very much hold-up 8 years later, but the branding and other aspects of it needed to be brought up to date. Compare the update above to what I had before.

CNCKing.com was a leader in the field of CNC files and teaching people how to make stuff with them and I’d argue that hasn’t really changed very much since then other than being completely offline for a year and a half.

What makes these updates fun is that there are still certain aspects that need tweeking but I left them in there for a decade down the road when I go through this fun exercise again to bring everything to 12K resolution which, although my current workstation could generate, I have other processor priorities at the moment.

I was at a MakerFaire all weekend showing CNCROi.com‘s capabilities and it always amazes me how little people know about CNC machines, much less how to design for them, they “know” 3D printers but not the far more capable subtractive CNC equipment out there of which we happen to have to make some really amazing stuff for our customers.

It has been quite a journey for me but the reason I got into 3D animation to start with is that I can’t draw, so I taught myself how to make 3D models to transform the sketch above to what I had in my mind in virtual CAD…

Into real life.

What’s ironic is that all these skills happen to be extremely useful when it comes to customer projects at CNCROi.com, I have a background that allows me, through years of trial and error, to design just about anything and now, the equipment and contacts to transform that design into something real for customers.

I’ve met a lot of people in the creative fields and there really aren’t too many of us who have experience like this to bring an entire project start to finish with experience in both the virtual and physical world… along with all the hardware and software to handle it.

So yes, I might have a lot of demos and videos on CNCROi.com showing rather simple stuff being built by me, but that is by no means the limit of our capabilities.

Woodworking, metalworking, plasticworking… whatever you need working onto, CNCROi.com can make it for you!
