Hex Bar Ruler: 304 Stainless Steel Fiber Etching
Hex bar ruler etching is no different than sheet or flat work we do at CNCROi.com using our fiber laser source.

In this case, the hex bar ruler is made out of 304 stainless steel, the etching is permanent, meaning it will not fade, crack or peel over time.
CNCROi.com is capable of producing custom hex bar rulers of any length, thickness or metal type though for most industrial applications, stainless steel is the clear winner for a variety of reasons.
The other advantage of etching a hex bar ruler is that the markings will remain clear, there is no paint involved, so even a sharp item scratching the surface will not remove the etching, you need an angle grinder to remove this stuff, and there must be some serious intent.
CNCROi.com can also brand custom hex bar rulers with anything you want, if you prefer some corporate branding, additional details or multiple scales on various flat surfaces all around the hex bar, no problem!
CNCROi.com has also made novelty clocks and other items using stainless steel, from blades to commemorative plaques.

When it comes to custom hex bar ruler production, whatever options you want, we can achieve them for you.
The bright light you see in these photos is the fiber laser instantly vaporizing a layer of stainless steel and etching into the stainless steel hex bar ruler.
Acrylic rulers look great, the material choice is totally up to you and your application but for ultimate durability, stainless steel is very hard to beat.

This is why the process is permanent and a wonderful choice for corrosive environments with lots of wash downs, as nothing was added to the steel, there is nothing that can come off.
CNCROi.com does a whole host of custom fiber etching, from custom welding tags and machine plates to hex bar rulers and various industrial branding requirements our customers come-up with.
Through the years, there isn’t much that CNCROi.com hasn’t cut or etched to be used as rulers, from trees to stones.

It’s hard to properly photograph stainless steel, but after the fiber etching process, there is a little steel soot that develops around the etching area, this is easily washed away to produce a sharp result.
You can see in the close-up below how the light plays on the stainless steel, the other advantage of fiber etching is that these markings have a very wide angle of visibility, unlike annealing or just about any other permanent process out there.
These are pretty heavy hex bar rulers, they are fine outside as they are in the bottom of a mine shaft or on a machine with heavy vibrations going through it.
