Laser cutting paper is fun, the designs our customers come-up with are impressive, from simple wedding invitations using colored card stock to stencils that will be used one time for art exhibitions, CNCROi.com has done them all!
There is one challenge with laser cutting paper, it likes to move around during production on the laser bed, CNCROi.com uses a powerful extraction and jets of air that follow the laser, paper weighting almost nothing does cause it to fly around.
Something you may not be aware is that CNCROi.com can also laser engrave paper, YEP, remove a small layer of material for custom lanterns and other paper related projects!

That isn’t much of an issue, the simplest solution when it comes to laser cutting paper like this is just to make lots of extras in case some get sliced-up and anything left viable gets sent to the customer as extras for testing.
With CNCROi.com, you are literally covered, paper to steel, and anything and everything inbetween.

Laser cutting paper isn’t a smokeless process, at the end of the day paper is essentially bleached and processed wood so the same issues that are present with using real wood are present, though at a far less amount.
Paper doesn’t need to be white or “paper thin”, it can be a multitude of colors and thicknesses.

CNCROi.com has cut lots of paper, so we got our setting down to produce just about no smoke on the surface, these will be painted anyways by the customer, but the backside will have a bit of smoke.
How does paper compare to other more durable options such as acrylic and MDF hardboard?

The design options are very good with laser cut paper but do keep in mind that generally, the same issues present with cutting flat paper are the same with custom stencil production, you want parts to be supported if they are important.
One step-up in durability and strength is actual consumer boxes that are use for food packaging, they work wonders and are essentially free.
The results look spectacular, that’s the CNCROi.com difference – amazing equipment and years of experience pay off!
