Spirit Bottle Engraving: Round & Square Glass

The first spirit bottle engraving we’ll perform will be onto a square bottle of premium Kannuk Vodka, what I especially like about this bottle is that it’s square unlike the vast majority of Vodka bottles that are round or made out of plastic.
Our Austrian CNC laser is able to quickly and efficiently permanently engrave into the glass bottle of Kannuk Vodka without any problems.
As CNCROi.com is engraving only on the very top surface of the Kannuk Vodka bottle, the Vodka inside isn’t getting heated at all, our focus is directly on the glass surface and thus, won’t affect the contents.
Regardless of the spirit bottle engraving shape or size, as long as we have a flat surface area, where our laser can remain in focus for optimal glass engraving.
The fire you see is the instant vaporization of the masking and related silica that’s being exploded away from the glass, you can see a really cool picture of this in the picture below.
It’s like a whole bunch of little napalm bombs shooting straight up from where our high energy Austrian CNC laser hits the glass, releasing an explosive burst of energy.
CNCROi.com is also able to custom manufacture accessories such as custom bottle related furniture and opening systems, in this case, for beer bottles.
When it comes to spirit bottle engraving, any glass produces this result when we hit it with our laser, green glass, yellow glass, blue glass, makes no difference, we are micro-exploding the surface of the glass and as a result, these shatters around it are what you end-up being able to read from the bottle.
You may think that having Vodka being hit by a laser in an enclosed area with flames not being a very good idea but remember, we are hitting the glass, not the Vodka in the glass bottle, additionally, the heat generated is on the surface, not IN the glass but ON the glass.
Now that this spirit bottle engraving is complete, you can see the message clearly visible, CNCROi.com can engrave any combination of symbols, letters or logos on the glass surface.
After the protective masking is removed, the end-result looks fantastic, clearly legible and just as clear as the screen printing on the back side of the Kannuk bottle.
It is a little different though than screen printing, not only is it PERMANENT but it’s also frosty looking.
When you run your finger over it, it’s also rough and you feel it a bit inwards while the screen printing is totally smooth and layed over the surface rather than in the surface.
As the Kannuk Vodka is clear, you can see it from both sides (all sides actually) of the awesome square bottle of spirits.
CNCROi.com can’t just engrave spirit bottles, wine bottles and beer bottles but also create wooden bottles to hang on your walls!
Next up on our journey of spirit bottle engraving, we’ll engrave a small ROUND bottle of Wayne Gretzky premium Whiskey.
As with the Kannuk Vodka bottle, CNCROi.com puts a mask on the surface to produce a more consistent engraving as it helps to hold the explosion just enough to produce a very even result.
Although typically we use our rotary system when it comes to round bottles, if it’s a very small area that requires engraving, it isn’t required to produce an effect on the glass.
Obviously, as with the example video above, if we want to go around the bottle, then we do need to use our rotary or if the engraving area was just a little bit more, CNCROi.com would use the rotary as well.

If I wanted to make this text any bigger, I’d have to use our rotary system, CNCROi.com uses it all the time so it isn’t a big deal to set it up within our Austrian CNC laser but I wanted to show that it isn’t always necessary.
After the masking is removed, you can see how wonderfully clear the writing is, it’s easier to see than the clear glass and Kannuk Vodka inside because Whiskey is darker in color, creating additional contrast.

Side by side, you can see the difference of the same engraving process on two types of bottles holding two different spirit types.

Another example of what’s possible using a round wine bottle as opposed to a square Kannuk Vodka bottle is engraving all the way around, thus replacing the need for a label or to provide complete corporate branding as I have done.
As with the Kannuk Vodka and the Wayne Gretzky Whiskey, a mask is applied onto the bottle but this time I used our rotary system to show you the difference in process involved.
The bottle is being engraved and the rotation of the bottle is being controlled by our Austrian laser at the same time, to make sure what we engrave goes perfectly all around the bottle with precision that isn’t possible using manual hand rotation.
The results look amazing as with the spirit bottle engraving we performed earlier, this time, the bottle is green.

You can see that over a large surface area, the engraving process is precise and consistent across the surface of this wine bottle now branded with CNCROi.com‘s logo all around it.
What’s different here is that we engraved the middle part of the wine bottle deeper than the other branding around it, to make it stand-out and to give it a bit more detail.
At this point, CNCROi.com could easily paint the bottle as the protective masking is still on the bottle but almost all our customers just love the frosty look and clearly seeing the contents of the wine or spirit or beer bottle through the branding.
