As these will be spray painted with enamel paint, they just needed to be cleaned-up before being painted, if you preferred something that was powder coated or anodized, CNCROi.com could have done that as well but enamel spay paint is the most cost effective way of adding color to metal.

The sparks you see in these photos showing the production of the custom metal family wall art frames is the metal itself being vaporized into dust and smoke, the arc in the torch is hotter than the Sun, so a little metal is no match for that kind of sheer power shooting out of it.

Wood is a tough material to beat, it has an esthetic that can’t be matched by metal but by the same token, the reverse is also true, the durability of metal is unmatched but the warmth of wood just isn’t present in metal.

CNCROi.com did have to pause this job a few times during production, some of the parts didn’t fall out but decided to hang around vertically after being cut, so they had to be removed, that’s why you see jumps in missing parts in the video.

As all the parts of this custom metal family wall art was nearing completion, it was time to cut them all out of the sheet so that they can go into post-processing to clean them up and get them ready for paint.

As wonderful as our plasma cutter is, there is clean-up involved which means removing the dust that accumulates on the metal itself during the cutting process, some flash rusting that occurs on the sheet itself and very minor dross that forms again, during the plasma cutting of these custom metal family wall art frames.

Like our CNC laser, the reason the arc doesn’t continue down through the floor of the machine is focus, the heat and power generated by our machine is electrical, so the metal is the table is the ground, what we are doing is creating a plasma from the torch head to the table and the metal happens to be in-between, hence getting chopped-up and not the table.

Now that these custom metal family wall art pieces are done, you can see how well they look already, there is very little clean-up required at CNCROi.com.

Taking a look at Nadia above and Bo below, I just have to remove the parts that are in the finished art pieces then run the angle grinder over the surface to remove the dross, it’s that very fine looking rough dust or powder that you see around in some of the places the cutting has occurred.

Wood is also a wonderful material when it comes to celebrating your family and others that are close to you on your wall.

The angle grinder removes some of the mill scale present on this hot rolled mild steel, though the focus isn’t to remove all of it, the enamel paint binds to this totally fine, but it does protect the surface from some flash rusting and the faster we process the cutting through clean-up, the better the results after painting is to impurities don’t form on the surface.

You can see below compared to the above custom family wall art frames that they do get nice and shiny, they could be clear coated but in this case, we are spray painting a hammered bronzing onto it, and they will look amazing once dry!
