There are a few different types of Trodat self-inking stamps but today we’ll just focus on the professional vs printy, each stands on its own, wonderful and strong for years of use but they do have minor differences you should be aware of.
When it comes to the design elements we can engrave on the rubber, your options are infinite, any font, vector image mixed and matched to your personal preferences, as long as it fits on the ink pad (for self-inking) is not an issue because we are passionate about professional stamp production!
By far the biggest difference between Trodat self-inking stamps that are professional vs printy is that printy are more cost effective for roughly the same size, this is because they are made entirely of plastic while the professional ones have a stainless steel support mechanism, for more robust and industrial use.
Think of it this way, if you are just stamping a letter with your address once a week or even once a day, a printy is overkill but if you are working in a warehouse where you might be stamping hundreds or thousands of times a day, professional is the way to go as it’s a more robust mechanism.
Of course, if you ONLY want the Trodat laser engraved rubber to affix to your own stamp, whether self-inking or not, that’s no problem, we can make those for you and ship them right to your door!
The professional series of Trodat self-inking stamps also contains a relatively larger ink reservoir and is easier to change color or refresh the ink pad than the printy models.

All stamps are produced the same way at the shop, making sure the rubber is flat then laser engraving away the details the customer wants, keep in mind that everything is engraved in reverse so that when you stamp it, everything is in the correct orientation, it’s the same idea as AMBULANCE, if you read it though your rear view mirror, it’s in the right orientation to be read, if you look at it directly, it’s in the wrong order.
Considering most of the custom rubber stamps I make in the shop that aren’t self-inking, round ones at any diameter seems to be the most favored shape…
Of course, if you prefer something oval or ANY other shape, no problem!
After the laser engraving process on the Trodat self-inking stamps, it’s cut out, the reason for this is due to the fact that CNCROi.com wants NOTHING TO MOVE during production, as such, cutting it out first may cause a slight shift that you may see in the finished stamping, doing the engraving first makes sure that everything is a solid unit until the cutting out process is performed.
If you want something a bit more colorful than just the standard black, we can also ship you a variety of different color pads and yes, you can mix and match pads in a Trodat professional, which isn’t possible using a printy.
The results of laser engraving a Trodat self-inking stamps may look a little rough but that’s just soot built-up on the surface and around the engraving, it washes right off to produce an amazing stamp!
